BikerScout007
After only 13 months..... finally got it I'm satisfied with it. It's solidly constructed, yet lightweight, not much heavier than my KS. It's pedigree alone makes it worth it. Couple of complaints. I put pictures below. The black paint around the snout is pretty sloppy -- something I could have done myself! One of the decals in the back is peeling off. I can cut off the dangling part though, it'll be screen accurate! The hard hat liner was a real pain to get used to. I have a pretty big dome, so after a lot of adjusting (surprisingly easy with a spinner to widen the band) I was able to get it on okay. I have a 7 3/4 head, so YES! your big dome will fit in this. The lens tint is DARK. Much darker than my KS. There's some pretty sloppy gluing of the lens. See below. The inside is not painted black and there's not felt or anything inside to give that effect, so I will have to adjust that. The ABS chincup is fine, but I like my fiberglass one that I put in my KS better. Anyway, take a look for yourselves!

BlitzJaeger
I can see where if you are a big dude you would want a helmet that matches, so proportion wise that will look better. The lines on it seem really crisp too and it for sure makes the KS look smaller. Being only 5'6" (or 5'8"ish in my scout boots) I like the KS because I look the proper size next to taller guys...a helmet like that would dwarf me! At any rate it looks good, although it would bug me wearing the hard hat liner, I hated those in my Anovos kits and removed them. It is also a little disappointing how much lack to detail you found! Those things should not be rushed or sloppy when people pay the kinda money that they do! I will be curious to see it on your finished outfit though. You look like you just about fill the doorway so I take it you are tall! This will look better on you than the smaller KS.
BikerScout007
I'm 6'0. The one thing I was worried about was it being too small, but it actually turns out to be a bit larger than the KS. Yeah, those little detail things were pretty annoying, and the hard hat liner took a bit of getting used to but I think I have it set in a way that works. I'll have to try it out at the next troop and see if it bugs me. If it does, I'll take it out and go back to using the bicycle helmet pads I put into my KS. stendec
Congratz on getting it finally. That black paint does look abit untidy but overall it really looks terrific. They did a fantastic job replicating their original, right down to the choice of paint colour. It just looks right. One little detail seems absent though, shouldn't the area behind the ear vents, on the inside of the helmet have a little black material, as the originals? I remember that mentioned about the Sansweet helmet on youtube. Can be seen in this gallery pic of an original too http://forum.bikersc...llery&image=729
Guest assimilate
i'd love to see a comparison with chefs lid
Grendel_Blitz
And versus the KS. KS on the left, RS on the right: Thanks for posting those comp pics with the KS. The width is nice and narrow as it should be. Snout paint job is weak - too bad - but all around the helmet looks nice. I'm in wave 2 and when I get mine, I will post comps of it and my LW as well. Glad you got yours man! One last thing, the Altmann's Lids all had wonky lens glue as well (they are not pretty on the inside). Put the black felt behind the ears. That does the trick. \m/
Strider
Ah, fantastic looking helmet. Congrats, bro! Would be interesting to see how it compares to a LW helmet side by side.
Guest assimilate
that is a very bad snout paint job
Nigel Warrack
Congrats on receiving that beauty! Man that helmet looks great even with the bad snout job and the peeling decal. Weren't these lids built from a screen used one? I'm 6'4 and think the RS would be way better on me than my SC which I'll change down the road once finished with my build.

One little detail seems absent though, shouldn't the area behind the ear vents, on the inside of the helmet have a little black material, as the originals? I remember that mentioned about the Sansweet helmet on youtube. Yeah I noted that above. I will run some felt or gaffers tape in there. I don't want to spray paint it black like I did with my KS Put the black felt behind the ears. That does the trick. \m/ Planning on it brother! Would be interesting to see how it compares to a LW helmet side by side. Me too.... if someone wants to send me one that is a very bad snout paint job It's a shame, I expected more given the time and expense. I could have done just as bad a job, and I did with my KS! hahaha. But would I trade this lid for something else? No way.... Congrats on receiving that beauty! I'm 6'4 and think the RS would be way better on me than my SC which I'll change down the road once finished with my build. I believe the molds were created by 3D scanning an original lid. I've heard different versions depending on who you ask And dude, my biggest fear was that this lid would be too small for me. The movie scouts were not tall folk for the most part. I've met Dickey Beer and I stand a good 4 or 5 inches over him. But not only was this lid big enough, but it seemed better proportioned for me than my KS lid
Griffin-X
Totally beautiful Mickey...even with the little flaws. The only thing I don't like (and it's minor), is the re-enforcement piece under the visor in the front. That seems weird to me, but get why they did it. Really nice looking lid man.
jkno
congrats! The helmet looks very cool even with the small paint flaw. I thought it would be a bigger problem, but is ok. Totally beautiful Mickey...even with the little flaws. The only thing I don't like (and it's minor), is the re-enforcement piece under the visor in the front. ShaunPug
As far as how they created the mold from the production prop, check out this link. http://www.rspropmasters.com/creating-the-biker-scout-replica-helmet-part-1/ Goes into a lot of detail. They didn't 3D scan it but rather used very time consuming traditional methods. When they say "production used" prop they mean that it was produced for use in RotJ, but wasn't necessarily used during filming. So an original helmet like any of the screen scouts would have worn, but apparently not needed for shooting. Pretty amazing find to produce a pretty amazing replica! TKs have had incredibly accurate helmets and armor for quite a long while so it's about time we Scouts have something that has actual production lineage!!!
Oberkisstillalive
great post mickey I am sorry to see the flaws you got on your helmet but at least they're not too bad. I finally got mine a few days ago and LOVE it. the tube stripes on mine are peeling off as well and a rivet that keeps the liner in place popped out of place so it is annoying but nevertheless it is an amazing helmet. also I was finally able to get the faceplate to sit upright but then the top of the visor cracked right on the seamline where the two halves are joined which made a huge snap noise and scared me to death because I thought I broke the helmet. Fortunately the (tiny) crack is only really visible when the faceplate is up so it's not too big of a deal but I refrain from opening it too often. Glad to see we finally got our helmets I remember talking about them with you at SW celebration!

Mandalorean
Faceplate pull looks very soft (unless its the lighting) compared to the propstore images to me.
Scavenger
Love how narrow it looks, some of the issues I have had with others is that they look kinda squat
BikerScout007
Here's the question! Who's gonna use it as trooping helmet? I am absolutely using it as a trooping helmet! I'm not a collector so if things don't have a practical use for me, they are gone... Which reminds me, time to sell the KS bucket!
