Redkap suit assistance plz

Schnitzel

Recommended Posts

Ok so I just got my RedKap flying suit.

Alittle long so I shouldn't have listened to that part.

Don't order long unless your 6 feet or over in height

Anyway

If I can get some more detailed info on the below guys I can make a start.

I see the 2 front pockets to remove but the the vender list post says there is 4 front pockets to remove but I can only see 2 on the front?

The riding patch? I have never seen this and I dont know what it is

The collar needs adjustment? not sure what is required here and what's the 2" elastic ?

Pictures would be great

thanks in advance guys

The side pockets should be sewn if there is a gap when you wear it. My pockets were white inside and could be seen when I wear it, so I sewed mine shut. Other than that there are two chest pockets, two side pockets, two back pockets and one leg pocket just above the knee.

There are two actual pockets and two "slash" pockets that let you reach inside the suit. They can be sewn or Velcroed closed or left as is if they can't be seen.

As for the collar, patch, and elastic here are a few pictures. The CRL is a good reference as well.

Collar mod - you can use one of the butt pockets to make the flap closure

Riding patch - real suede for Lancer, faux suede is acceptable for basic clearance.

The elastic is sewn under the edges of the patch in front and back.

The mudflap - real suede for Lancer, faux suede acceptable for basic - is just attached (Velcro or sewn) just above your back side

Got my Redkap - fits very well - I got a 42 regular - fits just right - I'm 5'8" ish. Also, just to comment - the quality is very good. I'm thinking about getting another one just to wear around the house.

For the costume, I think the legs have to be taken in - I think someone said 3/4 inch, b/c they are too baggy (as they are meant to be worn over clothes). Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this (prob a tailor)?

For the flap and the riding patches - does anyone have any templates /measurements they can share?

Also - for the elastic bands - anyone have recos for what to use?

Thanks guys.

If the legs are really baggy, definitely get them taken in. They shouldn't be really snug, but should fit like a pair of regular pants (or jeans).

The flap is typically the width of your waist and the length is typically from your waist to just about the bottom of your butt.

Here's a basic template of the riding patch:

The important thing to remember about this template is that it WILL need to be sized to fit you. The front edge of the riding patch should stop almost half way across the front of your thigh.

As for the thigh elastics, they should be 2", and just regular, not the reinforced/heavy duty elastics.
