Scavenger
So today made it official...er. More official? Whatever word means "IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE! THE FIRST PIECE IS HERE!" Let me just say that this whole day has been a curse and a blessing...I couldn't get through my work day fast enough and no matter how bad that made the day there was a package of awesome waiting for me....and that means it's time for this thread to come to life. Now if I could just stop running around making dark fists of imperial authority and weirdo heroesque fist on hips poses with my new gloves while my kids look at me like I'm crazy I could take a picture and show them off. I'll do that later. Quick echoes...order WW one size larger (they will still be a little snug around the outside of the thumb on the seam), their customer service and speed are impressive, they are well worth the price. Next to arrive is the flightsuit...
Schnitzel
Let me know how the flight suit is and what mods you have to do to it
Scavenger
Magnets arrived...such a large box for such tiny little things...
Retrofire
It only gets better from here Brother! Enjoy the ride! I finally order my armor and I can't wait for it to arrive.
Scavenger
So I've been doing a lot of looking around for boots, I've seen all the threads about the Kmart, Payless, and Walmart boots and of it comes to it, I'll go that route. However I have also found another option that may hold some possibilities....If I can ever figure out why all my pictures are too large to post I'll put up a teaser. Retrofire
I picked up a $19 pair from Kmart. I liked that the sole was all one color. Have you tried photobucket for your pics? It takes care of all that for you and it's free to sign up.

Scavenger
Thanks for the PB tip Pete! So this is my potential. It's still a scavenge find but it is a much more findable one. I'll give some more details when I nab a pair (hopefully in a day or so) and get to check them out more.
Scavenger
So, it's not standard equipment but I managed to pick up a Build Your Own Blaster (NIB) for $25 that I am going to convert over spring break (3 1/2 more weeks....grrr) into an E11s using some of those poor man builds at the FISD. Who knows, maybe I'll mock up a holdout-blaster while I'm at it.
Retrofire
Doopydoos has a good coversion kit that you might want to check out. There are some good E11 modification threads over on FISD that I was referencing for my Hyperfirm mod for EIB. 01Hawk
That is a pretty nice sole on them. May be tough to get the fabric to lay smooth over the stitching and the ribbed part at the toe. Hope it works out for you because the cuts in the side are nice
Scavenger
Palpatine be praised! Had myself an absolutely horrid day at work, 7th graders in March, I'll take ewoks and giant mobile trees anytime. However when I got home there was....not ONE unexpected package but TWO!! Boot base arrived 3 days early and jumpsuit arrived 4 days early. Huzzah! Pictures to come after the show tonight...unless someone wants to give advice on how to do imbedded image links from the iPad...Gordon Lightfoot is worth the wait Initial thoughts... ...going to have to be on the lookout for my boot base of choice a half size up or strip out the fuzzy lining ..........treads look MUCH better up close than any online image has shown so far ..........I should probably take a casting of them before I start applying vinyl just in case I get in touch with that lady on Etsy who does soles ...jumpsuit fits great, in that I mean it is a little snug to get back out of ..........possibility of letting out the crotch a tiny bit before patching ..........two chest pockets would be good places for venting since they will be useless anyway ..........two back pockets will be easy to remove and use for crotch-mod and/or mandarin collar ..........collar has really nice height when flipped up, comes almost all the way up to chin ..........two front waist (standard location) pockets can be a quick stitch-up ..........legs are a little baggy for my likes, but I knew they would be going in to accommodate for body length ..........will probably have them taken in a bit by my seamstress (dear ole' ma) when she does he crotch/venting ..........poplin is exactly how light I wanted this suit to feel in terms of thickness
Scavenger
AAAAAAND I got 90% of he parts for the pre-greeble construction of my poor man's E11s (aka DLT-19) cut, mocked up with drill/notch templates this weekend...and may have come up with a solution to make it a two-piece for easier transport. Scavenger
Steve is a scruffy looking, sneaky, underhanded nerf herder! I go to the doctor today and when I get back I find a notice that I wasn't home when delivery of a completely unexpected package from AUSTRALIA was attempted. Now I have to chill until the postman finishes his deliveries so I can go get it from the post office. That Steve has some sneak sneakiness to him. On a side note I picked off all the pockets from my two jumpsuits. One of them needs a collar mod and I'll probably pop some stirrups on the legs after I hem them a bit (that's the SwC one). The RK needs legs taken in, hemmed, side pockets sewn, a collar mod. I'll be trying to get to them this weekend. Picked up the LAST yard of marine white vinyl from the store this morning too, going to put some time drawing up for the boot sole cuts, I'll post pics later of that.

Last time I talked to Steve he mentioned that it was the temperature of Tatooine there in AU so he's probably getting back as us yanks in the cooler zones of the Galaxy . Look forward to seeing your lid!
Scavenger
Ok, not cutting till tomorrow so let's be free with the advice, these are my treads as marked...opinions?
Scavenger
And the USPS has decided to take the gift of Steve's sneak sneakiness and turn it into a long frustrating wait...
Scavenger
Alright so cuts were made and I think they look good. I haven't done the front of the boot yet because I wanted to look for some feedback. CRL says heel, I've seen boots with the front done top to bottom and I think that looks odd, so should I just do partway cuts like I have drawn in on the above pictures or skip cutting the front and just run with the heel? Retrofire
The cuts look great. I cut the front of my boots but I would stick with the CRL requirements. You also might want to pull the upper grommets and get some flat sport laces. Pandatrooper used a speed lace on his build and that would make tightening your boot much easier. Just a thought. Can't wait to see some white on those boots!
Retrofire
Oh and Peter, this is for you... That's wonderful! I'm so happy for you!!....<<<pressing UNLIKE button!!!! >>> ...and change your Altmann's status too!
Scavenger
Yeah, stages. I was actually thinking of trying a flat elastic speedlace (it's a style of lacing not a clip) to see how it sits, fits, goes on before i commit to flats with a speed clip. Also someone small and ginger has absconded with my pushpins and has no idea where they are so I have at least one more trip to the store before I start on the vinyl. Guess I'll remeasure my templates for the boot uppers in the meantime.

If you can't find the pins you might not want to wonder around your dwelling in bare feet. My mini-scout did the same and I stepped on one
Scavenger
OK! Finally got the beasties to give me enough quiet time (of course the day BEFORE I have to go back to work) and so without further adieu... I'll put up some trimmed pics sometime before bed.
Scavenger
It's before bed. After unpinning I trimmed with the exacto but lopped a bit higher at the back seam so my strips would have something textured to glue to (never used shoegoo before). Since I didn't have anything to make PT's plastic lip with I just used my recently removed shoelaces to pull it in tighter... Worked just fine. Then I was trying to figure out the least messy way to get the glue on for the strips, definately go with put glue on strip, my other paintbrush was file 13 after the initial vinyl application so I used what people in a hurry use when they have already squeezed out glue...a strip of cardboard. And to be honest it worked a hell of a lot better than the brush. I knew the inside section would be the weirdest so I marked how far I needed to get before I masked that section Then it was just an apply-fumble-one handed tape tear operation to get to this point: Peeled the tape back and used the highly technical "thumb rubbing" technique to remove extra glue and here we are. Viola!
