...do we have someone working with textile airbrush to get these black camopants?

For the pant and top i think we could use an existing set of camo's The hard part is finding the right camo pattern. After doing some research, I think the Russians have a set that look kind of close.

The CGI version -

The Russian Camo -

I think the Flora version is real close. Now some modifications will still need to be done. But I think it's a start.

And you think dieing it black won't lead to a loss of the camo but still look like black base??

The caps do not show a black base. Just the camo patterns. So I don thtink we need to dye anything.

But on the screenshot it apears a lot darker to me. Not necessarily black - yes but quite a dark grey/green. And I don't think it's just the lighting.

I was thinking the same thing, Chris, after watching some SG1 and seeing the Russian team's BDUs. And I agree that the undersuit is definitely darker, but I wouldn't say black. Just dark. I dunno about dyeing it too dark, but I think it needs to be done...

Well the bad thing about this CGI stuff is it's all made up. I think we should find off the rack items to use if we can. This helps in soooo many ways.

1. Cheaper

2. Item availablity

3. Faster/Easier to get the suit ready.

We need to be close, but we need to make it where the general population can obtain the right gear too.

Ok, I realize that the average guy would really appreciate solutions like that but picky as I am I'd go for the airbrush solution once I begin with the BARC.

Even if the trial should fail....I think it's woth being looked into.

May need a brown dye, or dark green?

You being in Germany, do you have easy access to Russin gear?

Keep in mine that when airbrushing matiral it sometimes does not stay the way you airbrushed after the first washing, it will fade. Also you need to heat set the paint real good, and make sure you use the right airbrush paint. You'll just be wasteing you time if not.

You guys are on the right track with the Russian camo idea, if you can get some, use a dark brown or dark green dye but do not use the whole box or bottle, make it weak using less so it does not over power the camo to much.

Keep up the great work guys.

Sudanese Army.

contrast and brightness levels down in PS and you get the lower result.

If it was possible to to achieve the same effect with die - we are almost set.

I am currently trying with the other patterns using a grey layer, simulating a medium grade dark grey die. There are slao other patterns that could work. You only need to have a slim dark fields and medium to large sand tan colours.

I will present those once I got through all of them.

I'll look but it seems to me the camo would work if we could get it darker.IS there a fabric treatment or chemical that would achive a wet look without actualy being wet? That would bring the shade down enough to work at least I think it would.

It would also depend on if the camo is new or used. It will be alot darker new than it will if some one put in thier 20 in the same uniform.

When my Russian Flora gets here, I'm gonna cut off a couple pockets and do some test. I'll post images when thats done.

So here is the result using the same grey on all uniforms I found appropriate.

I just don't know how die is behaving so this is highly speculative.

Guess try and error is something the BARC pioneers have to live with :)

with grey I meant the grey layer used over them to simulate a possible die effect. As the camosuit of the BARC seems to be dark greyish I used a very dark grey. I guess one would use black though.

I would say find a dark grey or black to test out a dye job if you're going to have some fun with it! B)

I can't wait to see what you come up with once you get the set, AS.
