That's cool - which pattern is it?

Edit* Might be good to know if the pattern os not too small such as the aformentioned SS camo designsn which are quite near the one you showed here but use smaller dots than the barcs.

Have you guys looked into the German Flecktarn camo pattern?

Check out this Lithuanian Army camo pattern:

You know what sucks? There's just so many camo patterns that are close. Can't we get someone who knows someone who knows someone who worked on the BARC scout to tell us what they used?

Or should we just come up with a list of accepted camo patterns to use?

I think we need to settle on one kind of camo. Something there is alot of and wont be a mother to find. Something that is not expensive but looke like the camo pattern we need.

Oh, I forgot...I got my Russian Flora in today. It's darker than the pictures. I'll try and get some images up this weekend!!!

Ok, what do you say to this one? It is the german desert camo. French camo would work as well.

I also found out you can order the fabric in case the suit needs to be customized because in the screens it looks like a tight fit.

I was watching a show on future weapons systems the other night. They were in Germany talking to some arty boys. (Gun bunnies) They were wearing a camo jumpsuit! Looked perfect!! Wish I could find a picture of that jumpsuit. Same camo as above!

Ok, found a cheap set and ordered them. Here is a good image of the coveralls. We will have to dye that red/brown color outta there!

Seriously the desert version would have been a bit better as it has more bright areas which will get grey. Medium warm brown/grey is the predominant colour over the dark grey/black. Dont you think? In the standard woodland camo it is less bright areas and more dark areas.

Just my opinion.

Im not seeing that much grey. I think we need more green than grey.

When my Russian Flora gets here, I'm gonna cut off a couple pockets and do some test. I'll post images when thats done.

I can't wait to see it. I attempted to color an old set of capsule crew "jamas" (Air Force dark blue flight suit, yes I know my age is showing) but the color did not take.

This is just my input but, approving several patterns would make it easier for people to get the approved camo for the BARC uniform. I collect military uniforms and equipment and I've never seen some of this camo. So the question I have is after a certain pattern is decided what will the availability be of some of these uniforms? From what I've researched the are a lot of patterns that will work if they can be dyed a medium grey or dark olive drab. Keep me posted.

I wouldn't go too strict on proposed camo patternes in case someone finds a better one for his uniform still matching the screen.

Agreed, I think most non 501st'ers would not know the difference of the camo patterns. Hell, I bet most of the 501st troopers wouldnt know.

I think we need to stick with the 10 foot rule. As long as it looks right at 10 feet, were ok.

Sudanese Army.

contrast and brightness levels down in PS and you get the lower result.

If it was possible to to achieve the same effect with die - we are almost set.

On these if you use a dark gray dye on them you would get the look your looking for on them.

For the pant and top i think we could use an existing set of camo's The hard part is finding the right camo pattern. After doing some research, I think the Russians have a set that look kind of close.

The CGI version -

The Russian Camo -

Flora

I think the Flora version is real close. Now some modifications will still need to be done. But I think it's a start.

I think this is the closest to the movie pants even thou they are CG, but if they were dyed using a dark grey or some black and not leaving them in the dye for to long. They should look great then. The only trouble is they are Russian and US made, we all might have trouble getting them.

Do you recognize this?

Well I did this to show how the flora is behaving with the armor....

I scaled a suit and put all the stuff of the barc in place. Just scroll up for the post I just quoted.

I might go for german desert camo though as it is available as fabric; also the way the pattern is applied it is quite close and I can sew my own suit then. Those combat suits are a lose fit (for me) while the BARCs have quite tight clothes.

ChileanArmy.jpg I really like this Chilean Army camo. But I'm an officer not in the field so I never get to wear camo. Its always my black Class A's when you work in an office. Maybe if I'm real good I can get some armor too.

I have had a few talks with my fellow costumers and we think we can pull this costume off without breaking the bank. This camo pattern is gonna be a pain in the butt to match.

So we are going to try using a camo pattern the is readily available to everyone. We are going to try the current US Army camo pattern....the ACU scheme. After a little dye (brown) I think it will be close.

Best of all, there is an ACU jumpsuit, its cheap, and abundant!

I know these are not 100% accurate, but I think the pros outweigh the cons.

If one wanted to do an uncamouflaged BARC, would they just opt for the standard black flightsuit instead? I know, it's a question with an obvious answer but someone would inevitably ask it. ;)
