Strider Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Since it can be a bit tricky to find a webbing with just the right hue of beige I was wondering whether there are any "best practices" out there on how to dye the pouches? My first idea would be to use some kind of tee but then again I heard the results may be irregular... Quote
wookieevader Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Tea is what i used on my boot straps for my snowtrooper. Make a bowl of tea using like 6or7 bags and soak the webbing or fabric for about 45min to a hour. The longer you let them soak the darker they get. Then let them soak in cold water for the same time. Hang up to dry overnight and they are done 1 Quote
Dart Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Tea staining is really the best method to get the "Endor" look. Quote
Strider Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 Thanks, guys. I'll give it a try and post the results here. Any particular kind of tea? I guess black tea would be too dark, wouldn't it? Cheers Quote
wookieevader Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I used cheap tea from walmart. Nothing expensive 1 Quote
Strider Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Here are my results from dying the pouches and all straps: I left them dye for about 30min in black tea, however I found that the straps (which probably also consist of a synthetic) take much longer to take the color so the color differs from the pouches. This would have looked all the more cooler if you had a Darth Vader mask I wonder what Marcel would say... Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
