So I'm taking my 1st steps (pun intended, awful as it is) toward building out my gear, and my first hurdle will be the shoes. I have size 15 foot, so my choices are always limited.

 

Will this boot work for 501 approval?

If you are going for the classic white Biker Scout, no...those will not work. You need something more like this:
