shoeben82
Morning everyone, this is my first attempt at biker scout boots, just need to attached the 'dog-bone' shaped piece and cut the soles to the correct patterns. Any advice or details i had missed would be greatly appreciated! Boots cost about £30 on Amazon (Men's D-Ring Desert Boots Light Taupe Suede Leather & Tread Grip Sole) and i bought the white vinyl on ebay (about a fiver). The vinyl is quite smooth and has a light shine to it (much like on the photo you see from the MOTM) and the velcro is 1 inch width. I used E6000 glue which sticks like sick to a blanket! I've attached a toggle to the laces to allow easier lacing up. Unsure whether or not to rivet it as the glue is holding it well. Thanks! NinjaScout
Looks good to me. E6000 should hold the topper. I didn't rivet mine. Time till tell if I'll regret that decision but I didn't want the rivet shredding my foot inside the boot.
Pandatrooper
I never used the rivet either, just E6000 and it holds fine. My only thinking is be careful of leaving too much of the laces exposed. If your vinyl is thin, the bumps will show under the vinyl.
shoeben82
Good call, i'll take laces off and start them slightly higher up so not showing throught the vinyl. Thankyou!
