Hey everyone, another Red Kap modification question. I searched, but couldn't find something that addresses this.

I'm working on modifying the Red Kap flight suit, and have successfully removed the front, back and leg pocket (just need to sew this one closed). I've reached the hip pockets and I'm not sure how to handle these.

These are the pockets I am talking about: YD08i0l.jpg

Can they just be sewn closed by following the stitches there? Should I remove the inside pocket? I appreciate the help.

As long as they are hidden when you gear up, you're good to go. I actually use mine for keys, etc.

Oh, cool. Do you recommend sewing the larger hole closed at least? If I can leave the other pocket open, that'd be great. I'm sure it'll come in use.

So the right throughs close, and the normals open? Or round the other way :) not sure what you call slash heh

That's what they're saying. I, of course, sewed it all shut, which I thought was required.

It's not that it's required to sew them shut, but that they're not visible. The belt does a good job of snugging it all up and the redkap doesn't have a white "pouch" inside the pocket like some slacks may have. It's all black, so it's barely noticeable.

Glad I read this as I've just upgraded to the red kap and after the first troop with no pockets wondered what I was going to do with my keys (pouches are removable and whilst fairly firmly attached with two press studs, having my phone, house and bike keys in there made me nervous!).
