mustangman3000
Just got my armor in from SC so I guess now is as good a time as ever to start a build thread! I know most people recommend replacing the 2'' nylon strap with cotton but is there any other components included with the kit you'd recommend replacing? Looking forward to getting this started and it feels great having a fantastic community like this to help me through it!
mustangman3000
Quick update I've smoothed the rough cut edges on all the pieces and rounded the corners on the shoulder armor. I've also installed Velcro in all the arm/leg pieces but I still need to make the straps. I ordered a rivet gun, rivets and washers, they should be here tomorrow.

01Hawk
I think I just upgraded my Velcro and stuff. I ended up buying a ton of elastic and various fabrics just because I was learning how to sew and stuff. I'm pretty sure most of what you need is there and satisfactory. I followed Pandas build and others and just took my time
mustangman3000
Going slow but at least it's going. Added the decals to the tank and I just used e6000 to glue the topper. I don't have many clamps so I have to wait till tomorrow before I glue something else.
mustangman3000
All the gluing is done and I just attached the tank to the back! Jeff didn't leave a lot of room to rivet the bottom and I didn't have any scrap ABS to make a bracket like Panda so I decided to do something entirely different. I cut slots in the back armor and laid industrial strength Velcro inside the tank and inside the back. Then I just ran elastic straps through the slots to hold them together. I could make the top strap a little shorter but it's fine for now. Tank is rock solid! Not even a hint of a wiggle!
Oblivian
Seems to be a few of us at the similar stsges. Must have been lots of self sc Christmas boxes out lol. Novel way of attaching.. Seems to tidy the gaps too. I just re cut the top of my tank to make it fit better, but may consider this as an added method Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk

Oblivian
Indeed re gaps, but when my tank appears to be a little more warped so more prominent. I don't know if the box got hot during customs clearance or what. I was looking thinking I may drop some glue down the edges once secured to square them up, putting it on the mound at this point pretty much makes all 4 sides buldge out. So not only is there the expected normal gaps, but accentuated - not sure if you see similar?
mustangman3000
So let's fast forward a little... And done! After the pictures were taken we added some Velcro to the top of the bund to hold it up. Also need to shorten the vest sleeves. Right now I'm just going for basic approval and I may upgrade to lancer at a later date.
Oblivian
Dang, been left in the dust. I wonder if i got my shoulder bells too high now. I have them 4.5" from the inside of the armour shoulder strap to end of the 1" velcro under the bell. I can shorted, but not make em longer once cut

Shada
Hi Mustangman I've been looking at your thread and really like the alternative way of attaching the tank. Now that you've had it a couple of months, is it still working well and would you recommend it to others?
mustangman3000
Sorry for such a late reply. I've only had the chance to troop in it once with my 2nd troop coming up the day after tomorrow so I really haven't used it enough to say for sure. That being said, I truly believe its there to stay and will never come off unless its taken off.
Shada
Thanks. I copied your approach and think it's a great idea - easier than building a shelf, holds well and gives me a storage option if needed (not that I can imagine putting my lunch in it!)
