Starting to muster my scout trooper kit. Purchased an armor kit and was looking for the various soft parts.

For boots, the site I bought the kit from mentioned using on quart chemical boots. I have seen posts regarding rubber rain boots, however, these seem more robust.

Any thoughts? I tried to make clone trooper shoes which was a disaster bit maybe the boots are easier to make?

I would highly recommend not purchasing rain boots of any sort, these boots need to be made using the tutorial >>

Or, if you're not as savy (like myself) purchase them from a fellow maker such as Marcel or locally in California, Chris

They wouldn't pass for clearance ( which If you aren't looking to join the 501st is not an issue) as is. You would have to wrap them like regular boots and all the designs on the side would stand out. You would also need to paint the heels.

Sounds good. I am going to avoid these boots then.

Who are the better/cheaper vendors of boots?

Since you're state-side, probably Chris. He's got a thread somewhere here regarding boot sales

I always encourage folks to take a crack at making their boots. The tutorial is excellent, and it's really pretty easy. I just enjoyed making mine a lot, and it was a big confidence booster when it came time to get to work on the other stuff. And it's pretty inexpensive.

Chris and Marcel make great boots too. Not trying to take away any business :)

Yeah, as mentioned..."shrimper" boots are a no-go and will not pass approval.
