Whereswa11y Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I don't think the curve of the holster plate matched the curve of the calf section of the boot... not enough curve in the holster. I used washers and a strip if abs plastic at the top and bottom insude theboot for support. Mabe my pilot holes should have been a liitle bigger to allow for more play between rivet and the plastic of the holster?
stasz Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 The pilot holes should be the exact diameter of the business end of the rivet. If you went bigger, I think you'd run into more issues with potential cracking or stretching out the vinyl where the rivet passes through. If you attach the holster by one side - top and bottom -then lay the vinyl inside the holster evenly, nice and flat, and then install the top and bottom rivets on the other side you should be fine there. Unless you're using some crazy thick vinyl it should really confirm to the shape of the holster nicely. You don't want the vinyl stretched super tight from rivet to rivet. That could stress and crack the holster at the pilot holes or tear the vinyl. 1

Spanky101 Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Example of what I did That is a great idea! I am just awaiting the arrival of my kit at the end of the month. I am definitely going to do it this way. Thank you! 1
