I'll be honest, when it came to rivets on the holster, I just put em in the holster but Velcro the holster to the boot. This way at some events or trick or treat with my kids I can go without the holster or if I need to repair or replace my boots its and easy swap. Its looks right and its conventional. I actually took that advice from command staff in my garrison because a scout in my garrison ripped his boot when the holster snagged a bleacher at a baseball game we did.

For the love of all that is Holy don't rivet your boots...

You'll end up with bleeding feet and hours and hours of agony!

Just glue them. They'll be fine.

Mine are just glued and have lasted about 6 years of me being a complete d!ck in them.

As for the holster, if the 'outside' look is one of just having the rivets, then it will be fine for Lancer. But if any of the velcro is visible, then it might not pass muster.

I think what the rivet /Velcro method meant was to put the rivets thru the holster while not attached to the boot so in essence they are just decorative. After they were installed then Velcro the holster to the side of the boot?

Personally I'd steer clear of Velcro and just use rivets for attaching the holster, you still get some vynil movement and certainly would help avoid the bunching up around the Velcro as seen in Jeremy's picture ( sorry dude)

I haven't gotten that far in my build, but I'd assume that between socks and your coverall pant legs you shouldn't have much to worry about.

I've previously used rivets to attach my holster to my boot. Unfortunately I keep experiencing cracking at the rivet point. Those of you who use the velcro and the decorative rivet, do you still get cracks near the rivets on your holster?

Are you making a properly sized pilot hole and using a baking strip on the inside with washers? How close to the edge are your rivets rivets?

I only ask because I haven't seen this as a common issue aside from the holster experiencing some type of duress.
