Tristancraig Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Hey guys, How do these cuts look, and what should i do to improve em. I think they need deeper dips and a higher top side.... hit me Tristan http://websta.me/p/1091650669864256542_44201248
Dart Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I would concur with your feels. Definitely take more outta the top and open up the spots to the inside bottoms too. Best thing... find a good head-on photo here in the gallery and stare at it until your eyes bleed and the shape is burnt into your retinas. Then go do more cutting. Also, the SC helmet is known to be a bit on the soft side, as far as details go, so go slowly. Also also, when you think you're done, check for symmetry. Get it as close as possible. 1
Tristancraig Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Hahha Andry, I think the wife's near ready to kill me for doing just that. For about 4 hours last night after I posted that pic I just shaved minute little bits off, then would make her come look to make sure it matched the on screen shot and I hadn't gone to far any where. Far from done however.
Dart Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 This is where having a set of files and sandpaper come in handy. This way, you can take off only a little bit without the fear of cutting too much off.
bwattsup Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Lol @ bleeding eyes, and burnt retinas Andry. I know that feeling all too well. Tristan - make a note to self on taking pictures in the future. When you're trying to make a comparison picture, it's always best to stand away from the object and then zoom into it. Close shots (arm length) always distort/warp the image. You'll be comparing apples to oranges otherwise. Also, you might not want to ask "Did I get it right?" too much to your wife. Eventually she'll just say yes so she can reclaim her husband. 1
Tristancraig Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Ahh tousche, I'll set up the tripod when I get home and do some distance shots. As for the wife thing. I think shes outta luck till she buys a shadow trooper kit 😂. Thanks bwatts 1
Nikko Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Looks like you have the right idea with your pencil lines. I did the exact same thing to my SC helmet, and I am so glad I did. It looks a lot better. I posted a couple of pics of the before and after in the "Ultimate Helmet Comparison Thread." Good luck on your build! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Tristancraig Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 Little updated shot of it, out of hand - scrutiny? thanks http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c256/tristankenwell/IMG_9463.jpg
bwattsup Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 If you use the "Direct" link on photobucket, it'll post the image when you link it here Tristan. As for the shape, I'd round the corners more and taper the top upwards to the center more. I made a reference collage shot on pixlr to help you out a little bit. This lens on this screen used helmet is a bit assymetrical, but will give you a good reference point. 1
