Painting my helmet

Flykiller

Recommended Posts

Hi there !

I'm about to start my armor, and I think I'll start with the helmet.

I own a fiberglass helmet.

I've read on this forum that any kind of white painting should be good.

I would like a confirmation :)

If you know a tutorial about it...

If you have an idea of a particular paint that I could find easily whatever the country I live in...

Thank you very much for any help !

Stay away from the krylon fusion paint if you have that where you live. I use the regular krylon paints and to I use rustolem paints the automotive enamels I just don't mix the two. Something else find one brand and stick with it don't mix paint brands. They can cause big problems.

spray is better, brush will leave "lines" as laquaer dries fast. if you have a spray gun set up, the mix of paint to thinner is 50/50.

use about 40-50psi, spray about 12-18inchs from the surface and one coat at a time, wait till its dry, dont try to cover all at once ,3-5coats will be needed. same rule for a pressure pac can, maybe more caots as cans paints are thin in application

try another surface before you paint your helmet, an old car part.door or something like that, practice first.

good luck

Hi there,

I've used a professional spray for car. I needed 7 coats to get the result shown on the picture.

I've been told this white should be the brightest.

The fact is, I feel like I'm far from getting the same white as the armor parts.
