the long search for marine grade vinyl..

After many many calls (from leather vendors to pvc and marine boat suppliers all over Japan)

I found a shop that can probably sell me white marine grade vinyl. It is not an easy material to get in Japan, as fabric shops or home centers don't carry it. It costs a lot to ship to Japan.

If the shop comes through Jeff, post the name and location on here for future reference. You never know when another Japanese based scout might endure the same agonizing search you've been going through. Any info is good info.

The company designs all kinds of yachts (super,mega custom..etc). I was very surprised to get an email from the company president today, it was pretty cool. He asked If i need the material for a boat. So..I said not a boat but for making boots for Biker scouts. I mentioned the 501st and garrisons all over the world, including Japan. (The 501st members here do commercials for big name companies, Disney as well as occasional events)

its the same vinyl that a trailer canopy would be made from, or the same vinyl that , well, bondage clothing uses. certainly in Japan's fashion district that should be available :-)

I did try the entire fabric district in Nippori, nada. They didn't even know where i could get marine vinyl. The man on the phone at the yacht company knew exactly what i meant. It did help that he spoke English.

You would think that It could be found in home centers, I went to a massive home center yesterday in the stix..they had leather vinyl for normal upholstery but not marine grade.
