Guest DoctorSpaceman Posted August 6, 2015 Share Posted August 6, 2015 Hi all. I'm working on my first build, and I'm trying to put together the helmet. Most of the actual assembly is done, and now I'm working on the details. I attempted painting the nose section of the faceplate, but my taping was substandard and it didn't turn out very well. After looking around for suggestions on how to do it properly, I decided that my best course of action was starting over with the paint entirely. Does anyone know a good way to remove spray enamel from ABS plastic? Neither paint thinner or bleach worked very well, and I'm afraid to use acetone because I read that it melts the plastic. I used this on an entire Tie helmet that "crinkled". You just spray it on, wait about 10 minutes, and the paint will literally wipe off. I'm new to costuming and propmaking and so the whole thing is slightly overwhelming. It's a lot of fun though, and I'm looking forward to finishing it! Quinxx44 Posted August 8, 2015 Share Posted August 8, 2015 Could be like me and go 0-100 real quick... I messed up my paint, then when I tried to correct it by respraying white, the plastic had an adverse reaction and caused it to yellow to a vanilla-ish color... Then I tried sanding if off and made it worse... Said screw it and took it to a buddy who paints cars professionally. I said "fix this." Now it looks great!!
