Nose comfort

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and gals.

I am putting the finishing touches on my KS helmet. I swapped out the cheap foam inside and put some extra helmet pads leftover from my military gear. Fits way better now.

However, I am wondering what you all do about the nose piece. There is a circular piece of foam in there. It gets uncomfortable after a few minutes. I was thinking of taking a rubber nose piece from some old workshop glasses.

What do you use to help keep the helmet stable on your nose and how do you make it comfortable?

Thanks

Tom

I have a KS helmet as well, the foam doesn't really bother me and I've worn it for 2 × 3hr troops in the same day. I have used the fitting strap from the Boba Fett Voice Changer Helmet and added an elastic chin strap to keep it more stable. Everyone has a different shaped head (and nose) though so what works for me may not for you.

When you see the insides of each person's armour it can vary to be more comfortable for each one. I use carpet layer kneepads under my flight suit because the knee armour really digs into my shins.

Replace it with softer, car wash sponge? Maybe cut a groove out of the foam to fit your nose? Plastic surgery? (Joking, just joking, sorry). :)

Maybe a Senior Member might have a better answer.

I was fortunate enough to score a built and modded KS lid from Darth Voorhees, and I really only tweaked the foam around the back and in the dome of the bucket. I didn't have an issue with the faceplate.

I think this situation would be do what works for you and share the results! My face doesn't quite hit the faceplate but I have glasses and I can't wear them with the helmet on.

Padding in the top front and a tight chin strap helped me. I didn't like or use the standard chin cup but took leftover elastic and stitched on Velcro to the ends, put stick on Velcro inside the bucket and no problem anymore
