Guest artwodeetwo
Hi guys & gals! Thank you admin for approving my registration! I'm Howard from Malaysia. Not attached to any particular Garrison, am an ardent fan of Star Wars, a born-again collector & a fan of the Biker Scout troopers. Although a big fan of SW since childhood, my passion for collecting SW merchandise only re-ignited recently since March 2013. I went full force & dived head first into collecting SW stuff ranging from 3.75" figures to 6" to 12" & to 1:1 scale of course. Having not done enough homework that time, I hastily bought a 2nd hand Don Post standard Biker Scout helmet (images below) based on photos shown from a local collector in 2014. The time I bought the helmet it was beautiful, aside from the slight Yellowing & a small crack on the lens (which is a Black film material- is that original?) Fast forward to today, the helmet seems a bit wider than when I first bought it. The sides of face-plate seems wider now & overshoots the joining area at the jaw (last photo). Is there any solution or fix to this problem? I was thinking of just selling it off, but have grown to love this piece & will try my best to improve on it and give it another chance. Thanks for taking time to read this & hope to get your expert advice on this matter.
Chex
I know the DP or Rubies helmets are made from a type of vinyl. So over time not only will they yellow, but the martial is soft so over time, due to heat, and it just sitting, the material will flex. Most people who buy those and use them for trooping, will re-enforce those areas to prevent that from happening. You can heat up those ears and get them back into shape. There are tutorials in the helmet section here. Take a look and see if it will help.
