ferra
Hey Grumpy, Good eye there. I can spray it with the same Tan I used on the armor plates. What type of weathering would you suggest for the boots aftewards? Something like Adam does in the vids below with brushes and rags?: Or thin layers of black and brown, maybe a little white(white sand on screen?) ferra
So, on to the piñata, sorry painting the snout with aerators: And also did the belt's paint:
ferra
Today´s job was painting the cod piece(and forgot to take pics of it too) And applying some Krylon Tan to the boots to make them match better with the armor plates: Before: During: Afterwards: (with flash) (without flash) Now question time: 1. The correct position to glue the greeb in the arm plate is in the back correct? Not the side? 2.The color on my greebs is darker than the silicone straps, is this ok? Do I have to paint the greebs in a lighter shade? Can I paint the straps in a darker shade to match the greebs? 3. What color are the round greebs that go on both sides of the visor? Grey or Black? ferra
So a small update from yesterday, had to put the bits back on the sides of the chest armor: Also started painting!!!!!
ferra
Still doing the green spots in the camo with very thinned paint, in order to try and get a smooth finishing in the end:
Rwg86
Are the bits from the chest armor areas on the side that you cut too much off of?
ferra
As the back plates are supposed to overlap the chest ones, my guess now is that even tho i´m pretty slim i could have let them as they came without trimming. As it is I just glued the leftovers back into place and will have to sand it down for a smooth finish... Has to be done to look good! In other news, Leticia from Spain(my neighbour country) had her costume approved! Congrats to her on a job well done! I´m next!
lukesoytuhermana
Thank you very much Luis! I would have liked to put post, here to teach all the progress as I did in the 501sg, but already know that your don't speak English very well (I would love to talk about it like you!) and that has given me fear doing so... But something that does not have there and that will be here first is that I will put if I allow my approved photo... ferra
So, some more work done in the painting department except for the chest plate that is on hold pending the side repairs the green is done and the brown has been started: Plus I got to try out a little(and I must stress "LITTLE") of the green in the Tamyia weathering kit to see how it performs... Without: with a little magic stuff:
ferra
Ok, two great things happened today and hopefully will get me closer to my objective in no time: 1. I went "cooking": 2.I started on the magic dust(the legal kind so don´t worry), first pic is one knee pad with next the other without:

Rwg86
Nice to see a big tank- I thought mine was a tad too large but it looks pretty close to yours in size.
ferra
Yeah it looks bigger because my plate is pretty cut down too, but you really can´t compare this with the biker tanks. Most people will probably find it too big or like "something's off" because in their minds the one they really know and remember is biker's which is pretty smaller... The good news is that it´s not really heavy

ferra
Got some good news today, and I may just have more good ones tomorrow and the day after. But first things first: First try with flash, not good, the uniform looks grey and black.. Second try without flash, still not very good: Third try with a light pointing in my direction:
Rwg86
Wow that cummerbund is big! Is that grumpy's? Undersuit looks good- same color as mine
ferra
Wow that cummerbund is big! Is that grumpy's? Undersuit looks good- same color as mine I got the pouches and cummerbund from Chris Hale, good quality and great guy! I believe he also does the gloves, but I had those made locally(hope to get them finished tonight..)

Aaron_Ravenheart
Following this build with alot of interest. Just a few questions. Will the "bunching" up of the cummerbund strands be helped by the armor and / or pouches ? or is it better in this case to add a few more stitches ? And did you replace the buttons on the shirt with full velcro ?
ferra
Yes, full velcro on shirt! Regarding strands, will have to look into it later/next weekend when i put the pouches on for good...

My problem has been since the armor is tighter on me than Grumpy's cummerbund, it pinches the material and causes the straps to come loose. I'll need to add more stitches or live with it, since the CRL image has some bunching.
ferra
Got some more work done today on the chest plate and also the below parts:
