Matching paint to ABS

Recommended Posts

So at some point, my SC knees got scuffed and now have black marks that I can't seem to get rid of. Does anybody know of tricks to get rid of them? And if not what paint combo will closely come the ABS stock color?

Haha, thought about it, but I like my clean scout... Maybe though. Still wondering about a fix in the meantime

If someone has a weathering tutorial, I would greatly appreciate that as well! In particular how to weather the bund and boots

Shot in the dark, but could you lightly sand them out and then buff the knees?

I used to repair guitars and I could get away with removing stubborn paint/schmutz from lacquer without distorting the glossy finish. I wouldn't go below 600 grit and wet sand, but that might be easier than trying to shade match.

I have a micro fiber cloth in my tote and try to wipe everything down right when I take it off, or as soon as I get home. Even stubborn stuff - like sap - has come off with warm breath and gentle scrubbing.

Might try this. Thanks for your insight!

Personally, I would leave it as weathering. But if you really want to get rid of it, do not sand it.

Based on years of TK experience:

- rubbing alcohol on a cotton cloth

- if that doesn't remove it use Novus plastic polish

- if you need something stronger use car swirl remover

- last resort is Meguiars cut polish

Yeah, to be honest, light weathering works well with Biker Scouts just because they are more in the field type of troopers. Scuff here and there isn't gonna do ya' harm

So the rubbing alcohol worked! The problem was the scuffs had made some scratches so I couldn't rub them out normally. Needed the extra "umph" of the rubbing alcohol. This is the second knee pad after i already had done the first one, which was worse.

Thank you Panda! and Everyone else as well!

(I know there are some weathered scouts screaming at their screen right now  ... Maybe sometime I'll weather..)

Well, along the same lines of this, ive been making some corrections and tweaks as i ready to submit my 501st application, and found what I had once forgotten..... This CD99AVv.jpg

In my infinite wisdom i used the non clear epoxy and used a bit too much..... any ideas on how to get rid of this eye sore? more importantly, would this hold up my 501st approval?
