Hi guys - I couldn't find an exact/recommended width for the cotton loops that cover the shoulder attachments. Should it just be thick enough to cover the gap and look aesthetically pleasing, or is there a recommended width?

Thanks!

Ideally it's about an inch - inch and a half...

But it ultimately depends on the gap that you have between your chest/back plates.

If you can practically join the two, then keep it small.

If they sit far apart, then the bridge needs to cover the gap.

There's no hard and fast rule.

If you can use a similar material to your pouches, that's good enough. As for width, Rob nailed it above. Smaller is better, but it all depends on the gap in your armour.

Can I raise a question on the practicality of attaching these bridge covers? What method do people use for securing them in place (e.g. having them permanently glued to one side of the armour, or completely detachable with a snap, etc.)

Ideally, sew an elastic loop and slide it over the gap. Mine never move out of place, and I didn't glue them.

I did mine similarly, but I also threaded the nylon webbing that holds the halves together through the loop and stitched them together at the bottom. That way, the loop is nice and snug and also doesn't slide around.

If you go L2 for the shoulder straps "Shoulder bridge straps, attaching the front and back of the armor, are made of white cotton webbing. Not Nylon." ...do you still need the strap covered with a loop of white fabric?

If you're using a more coarse/textured material, like canvas for your pouches, you can just use that for the shoulder bridge strap covers.

Okay. So regardless what you make the straps out of, they still need to be covered. Thanks.

Yup. Ideally, you have a good strong nylon band holding the pieces together and the gap is simply covered by the loop of fabric.
