bugdozer
Regarding the black areas on the snout (the aerator and the black rim around the edge): are they meant to be matt or glossy or what sort of finish?
Nexous
I used black acrylic paint and gave it a matte finish, not sure what others did for theirs
Chef
I used a satin on mine.
Chex
Satin as well. I did use semi-gloss for the aerator though.

Dart
I used a satin for mine. Just be sure that you go around the edge of the snout far enough. I've seen several scouts that don't have enough black painted. Make sure the black part goes halfway across the ridge that forms the front edge of the snout. Check out the gallery for better views of an original scout helmet to see what I mean.
bugdozer
Thanks guys, satin paint is now applied to the aerator. I see what you mean about the snout ridge, I'll bear that in mind.
