bugdozer
I have noticed some differences between the "Level 2" certification specifications on the 501st reference page and this forum's listing of what the Lancer standard requires. For example, the 501st page says knee rivets should be silver. This site says they should be white. The 501st page says a chin cup must be present on the helmet, this site says it's optional. Can someone clue me in on which is correct? And can whoever is responsible for updating whichever one is wrong be given a gentle prod? Darth Voorhees
Sounds to me like it just needs to be updated. I believe the current consensus on the rivet on the knee is white, and the chin-cup is optional as its never seen on screen as far as i know, but was present in a screen used helmet now in a personal collectors hands.
Chef
Yup, pretty much what Lou said. The 501st site does take some updating. Here we can just make the edits we need to because we are in control of our own destiny, but on the 501st site we are at the mercy of the Web Admins over there, and they've got their hands full with other stuff, so there's a bit of lag. Knee rivets are white. I can't find a 'screen grab' of a chin cup being present... Yet as Lou says, there are pictures of one on a Scout Lid that's with collectors. So it's been deemed 'optional'. If someone can come up with conclusive screen evidence of it's use, then it may become 'required'.
Junglie Scout
Don't want to cause a fuss Rob but I have an image from the same scene and the rivet looks au naturale to me. Maybe my eyes are old and knackered but for the sake of continuity I thought I'd mention it!!! The MOM Scout has unpainted rivets but we may be dealing with on screen lighting causing some difference in appearance????
Chef
S'ok... I'm hardly going to get in a twist about it.
bugdozer
How about one of each on either knee?
Pale Rider
I came here looking for this info myself about the color of the knee rivets. As long as they are supposed to be white and the 501st site is just lagging getting their info updated based on what the consensus is here I'm happy. Griffin-X
It also still shows a chin cup, but it's no longer required.
