stuf123 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Hello everyone! I decided to help out the community and start working on a 3D printable helmet. I am still in the phase of getting the overall shape correct and then I will move onto getting it ready for printing. I would love some feedback on what I have done so far. -Steve Richardson TB-10620 3
spookymufu Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 it looks pretty nice, its hard to tell from the pics but did you include the snout vent area?
jyjellyfish77 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Looks great. Don't forget the hinges for the visor and the cuts in the back. Would be awesome to see this work.
stasz Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Looks good, tho the ears in the straight on pic look a little on the big side. Would this be printed as two pieces (helmet and visor/faceplate) or a one piece slip-on?
uscstaylor Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I for one would definitely buy one as a back up, beautiful work so far!
Oberkisstillalive Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I agree with stasz on the ears. I would also recommend making cheekbone indents on the faceplate and giving it a slight flare. this helmet looks like it has all of the right proportions otherwise and I can't wait to see the finished product. I will definitely be following this thread with great interest! I would definitely be interested in buying one.
paradoxdj Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 This is looking great so far! I can't wait to see the final product. What are you plans for using the final model? Is this just for personal use or are you going to make and sell the bucket or sell the stl for printing?
Murderink Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Awesome work man, was it made in z brush? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nexous Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Not sure how I missed this post... it's right up my alley. Whenever you have a printable set I'd love to be a lab rat and print this out... we're getting a large format printer at work that could easily print this as a full bucket or in pieces... so yeah, please let me know 1
Nacho Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I'm down to test for you. Plenty if 3d printers in my garrison....and I may or not be looking for a helmet too haha great work so far. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
shdwtrpr13 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 This seems like something very worth keeping an Eye on since the technology is right there and becoming so readily usable by costuming groups. Looks greate and can't wait to see what your finished looks like.
Bowfanny Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I would also be interested in collecting this file if you choose to release it as my other option is scratch building with pepakura.
askernas Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Since I just 3D printed a complete full scale BB-8, as beta testing for the BB8 builders club I'd be very happy to test out and print parts and assemble to see how they go together properly, if you want a beta tester on this one =) 1
Burgs Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Did this ever get off the ground? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Hossmaz Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Would be interested in this too. Will the face shield open or will it be solid with the rest of the helmet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bowfanny Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 I've picked up a scout file that hinges like is supposed to.
twobears9394 Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 I've printed a helmet from thingiverse.com and it looks good, only thing is that the bolts on the visor don't line up due to warping
