Ammonites
Okay, so I was wanting something a bit more to go with my Biker Scout. So, I present to you my dirt cheap electrobinoculars. Had issues with the camera so I wasn't able to get progress pictures. Body was a plastic container I got at the dollar store, visor from some moisture gatherers from the same place. Wooden dowels for the parallel lines, about $2 for that. Soda bottle lids for the eye pieces, some extra parts from cabinets for the buttons. Bottom of a Gatorade bottle used for the top detail, the lid for the lens cover. Lenses are from the tops of soda bottles. Strap was left over from making my cummerbund. Had two others made by using the same techniques. The one on the left started having paint flake off, but same stuff was used except straws instead of wooden dowels. Call it my prototype. Other one looks all right I think. A bit bulky, but the style works out. So what do you guys think of them? Not too difficult to make. Hot glue, sandpaper, some rivets and spraypaint.
Chunk
Nice. Did you leave the end cap/lid fuctional? You can line the inside of the container with felt & secure the cap/lid with the strap & use as a wallet to hold your money, cell phone, keys ect while you troop. Ammonites
I've considered it, but not for these ones. I want to get something that looks good first, then make something functional.
Smiling Fox
I like the one on the right. It looks different but still something out of the Star Wars universe. Excellent creativity.
Obey Wann
I picked up one of these on ebay and plan on modifying it. Might make others available as well.
kiel814
Keith, the one on the right looks awesome to me too. The bottle cap on the top is a little evident. I would modify it somehow but that's just me being picky. Bill, are those actual binoculars or a videogame? Anyway, I bet they will look great after you are done with them. Ammonites
Definitely seeing similarities with these, thanks for sharing. May have to keep a look out for those at the thrift store.
bugdozer
Are these things OK to troop with at canon events?
Ammonites
May depend on the Garrison, so just check first. I will be taking mine for a while unless they tell me otherwise.
Nacho
I've been racking my brain the past two days trying to conceve probable avenues to make a set of electrobinos. I'm trying to make these below. Currently the Radica Tank assault or sub assault game would do well with some modifications. I wanted to add a monocular to the front for the lense and the part around the cap seems to me to be from a sink (pipe fastner part) Something like this. kayelbe
How about a plastic slip nut?

Nacho
Doopydoo is sold out. But good for references. I actually came across this trap adapter. I plan on getting one of these. and place it inside of it, it's for looks. non functioning. I'll get the cheapest one i can find that fits and looks the part. I just have to hunt down one of the radica games.
khazara
I just got my Sub Assault and DoopyDoos kit last week. I'm looking forward to experimenting with painting and weathering. I would like to carry something other than a weapon sometimes :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
