Be careful of windproof. It will not take dye well. Also, you have to make sure the jacket and the pants are the same material or else the dyes just will not come out the same. The windproof ends up being very very dark and shows a faint stitch lines throughout the material.

As long as the material is cotton it should be good. Just don't get the "ripstop" material. That just plain sucks!

And, if you can get the shirt and pants from the same place, they should dye the same. If they are from different vendors, they might end up a slight different color. And when you dye them, if they have a slight purple tint to them, don't worry. That's just the black dye. Dye them as dark brown as possible, but add just a small amount of black to give them the darker tone.

I've still got a box full of them in my garage. They were issued to me so I can vouch for their authenticity. I'll have a route through this weekend and see if I've got anything that maybe suitable. No promises as they could be a mishmash of sizes as I was quite skinny when I joined up. Not so skinny now though :-).

Ok buddy, I've rifled through my box of old uniform and I have three shirts and one pair of windproof trousers.

The shirt sizes are: Height/Chest - 170/96 (x2) and 170/104.

The trousers are: Leg/Waist/Seat - 76/88/104.

All of these sizes are in cm. You'll have to find a tape measure and see if they are plausible for you.

If you want them, I'm happy to part with them for the price of postage.

Andy.

Tags, please accept my lack of communication. I had to disappear for a last minute job and have now returned to the UK. I'll get the gear to the posty on Friday afternoon and get a price for you.

I had to go at short notice so couldn't get in the boards before I went, again please accept my apologies.

A.

Apologies if I'm highjacking your thread but I thought it'd be better than starting a new one on the same topic.

Was wondering if this style shirt would be suitable. It's actually made to be worn under armour, is less bulky and cooler to wear. My concern is that the plain brown bit that would be exposed near the shoulders/armpit would be unacceptable.

If any of the brown shows once your cumberbund and armor are on, I would say not usable. Also since this is a different material than you pants (presumably) when you dye everything they could end up wildly different colors.

Figured as much but thought it was worth checking. Thanks mate.

Too much brown shows.

Not really acceptable.

Yes, the cummerbund might cover a lot of it, but it's still not the right one to use.

Try to find a regular British Desert DPM shirt.

(Cotton, if possible. Don't use the Rip-stop material.)

Cheers!

Thanks again for confirming that Grumpy. I've since sourced some from the UK. Postage cost more than what 2 sets did but I can't be bothered trying to track down decent matching pieces here at disposal stores.
