Tree hugger or did you run into it?

Anyway, you should put the second strap on the knee armor. Not required for 501st, but it is for Level 2. Plus I think it looks better.

I agree, rivet gun ready. Had to order some 1/2 inch elastic. After walking around a while for the first time, I totally agree.

Hugger or Crash? Little of both. 😎

Looks great, Brother!

You might loosen the shoulder bell elastic just a bit to keep the vest sleeves from flaring out. I had to adjust mine too, having done all the strapping before I finished the vest. Nothing that would hold up approval I don't think - I'm a rookie too ;)

I totally second the top knee strap, whether you're going Lancer or not. It makes a huge difference keeping the knees up.

Great work man. Congrats!

(I know you mentioned it before, but that's an SC lid correct? It looks great!)

Yep. SC on the lid and armor. Good advice on the flare. Hadn't dawned on me that it was the reason. Thanks.

Awesome work Ronnie, a very nice and clean scout! This should be an easy approval. The only thing I'd tweak is your boot soles. Add some cut outs to make them look more accurate. Nice work trooper!

Yeah, originally I just had the one strap held on with with Velcro. Put the second one on for accuracy, but it really helps keep the knee armor up.

Ammonites and Stasz - knees done - thanks! Will hold up much better, especially on long troops.

Yeah, looks fine to me for standard clearance.

Putting on my ultra-picky head...

I'd do the cuts in the boot soles and paint the bases so they are all one single colour.

The crotch part of the bund could do with being a little wider at the top edge, it's just a little narrow for my tastes.

Try and hide the rivet securing the top of your tank.

The bicep and forearm armour should sit more on the outside of the arms, rather than round the back.

The flak vest sleeves could do with just pulling up about 1" so they only just poke out the bottom of the shoulder bell.

I'd change the bolts on your lid to some better sizes 3M ones.

The Brow stripes seem a bit on the big side.

But that is me being very critical.

None of the above should stop your basic clearance, it's a jolly good job and fits you well.

For Lancer.... I'd be looking at the above.

Thanks for the feedback!! Yeah, after getting a ways along in this build, I wish I would have not riveted my belt and added the 2nd rivet to the tank top. If I go back and pull the rivets on the belt and switch to some E6000, is there a suggested way to fill in the holes to match? I have used sludge, but the color is dull in the end, might be so small that it is unnoticed.

Suggestions on hiding the tank rivet? I am assuming that you are speaking of the white one?

Thanks again, this is my first build and learning is exciting!! I never take it as anything else. Will not be my last for sure.

Yeah, the white one.

If you take the rivets out, put some tape behind the holes to seal them, then fill the outside with a bit of bi-carbonate of soda (baking powder), then drop a small amount of superglue onto the Bi-Carb.

It'll fizz and go rock solid. It should also be white.... Give it a quick rub over, and then add a small patch of weathering over the area.

Job done.

  • 2 weeks later...

For the knee armor, I found that sticky velcro on the underside of the upper part of the knee armor and sewing the other side onto your flight suit does wonders and I dont need to have the elastic bands super tight to keep them in place. Ill take pics to show you what I mean.
