matt8199
So I received my Armor, Helmet, Soft Parts and Blaster all in the mail today (from KS). I already have Boots, Gloves, Flightsuit & Balaclava. (All I need is a Vest and Patches). Now, my question is: How in the blue hell are supposed to put this all on?!? I am a bit overwhelmed at sorting out the armor and trying it all on. The FOREARM peices do not seem to have two elastic bands with velcro, just one - making that impossible to put on and fasten. Amongst other things: I need to attatch my holster to my boot and I haven't the slightest clue how or what to use. Also the cummberbund is a bit bunched in the crotch area and I don't know how to fix that. I also have no idea just HOW ezactly you are supposed to put all that armor on by yourself. I will most likely require someone there to assist me while dressing (that kinds sucks). The hardest part seems to be the BACK Armor piece. I don't see how that is supposed to stay on. What do you velcro it to? I don't get it. There's no way I could put that back piece on by myself. The Helmet is a little loose and big but other than that it fits and looks great. (KS). Blaster is also very cool. (didn't think it'd be that heavy). I looked all around but is there a thread or post that shows EXACTLY HOW TO PUT ALL OF THIS ON? And if there isn't, might i suggest one? I spent a good chunk of change on this outfit and now that it is here, I am wondering just how much I am going to like getting all this on properly... Having 2nd thought now... Gaunt899
Let's proceed in order: 1)The forearms needs only one elastic band, why you should fasten it?just let your arm pass through. 2)Attach the holster via 4 silver coloured rivets on the corners.I used 4 little screws in case i want to detach it.Bunched? You mean you get it folds?(sry im not english so i dont understand really well some technical words) 3)Generally you only need help just for closing the back of your coummerbund. The rest is pretty easy to wear by yourself.Anyway fellows troops always help each other while dressing, dont worry about that. 4)You dont velcro your back armor on the soft parts, just attach the chest and back together through the shoulders and close the gap with some white fabric, close on the sides with some white elastics. I dont know a precise thread about putting together the gear,i suggest to ook at some build thread for reference. This is how i put mine: 1-undersuit 2-knees 3-boots 4-cummerbund 5-vest 6-belt 7-torso 8-biceps 9-forearms 10-gloves 11-helmet Hope i understand what you were asking
wookieevader
There is a video on YouTube on how to dress and some of the guys have a wip that shows what they do to the armor. I suggest is taking pictures and asking questions before cutting anything.
Bobik96
Check this thread out. It's SC armor but should build the same. This is a comprehensive guide for Armor. http://forum.bikersc...?showtopic=9781 I'm fairly new but require help with the vest.
dankelzaga
Deep breath my friend. Lots of help and info out there. Try to take things one step at a time. I'm horrible at this sort of thing and I made it through. There are many of us right here in your own backyard that help as well. Frankly, I'm not able to completely dress myself without some form assistance and likely never will. The thing is....if you think about..when will you ever be completely alone trooping? There is always going to be someone around to give a hand. It will get easier and easier as you go along. If you are trooping an event there may even be another scout there. I've never had anyone not be willing to help me out. Even if you are not at an event you will likely have friends/family around to assist. At any rate, tons of great stuff right on these forums. Pick a section of the project and whittle it away one step at a time. Best of luck.

4505Marcel
Scout is certainly possible as a self dress costume, I always do mine on my own. It's all about finding a way that works for you.
Chef
Which ever way you do it... KNEES FIRST! There's nothing worse than getting all your gear on, and realising you've left the knees off, and you then can't do anything but take it all off again so you can bend over to put the knees on!
Southscout
Now, my question is: How in the blue hell are supposed to put this all on?!? I am a bit overwhelmed at sorting out the armor and trying it all on. The FOREARM peices do not seem to have two elastic bands with velcro, just one - making that impossible to put on and fasten. Eeeh, you slide your arm through it? To secure it, put velcro on the inside, and a piece on your flightsuit's arm. Amongst other things: I need to attatch my holster to my boot and I haven't the slightest clue how or what to use. Also the cummberbund is a bit bunched in the crotch area and I don't know how to fix that. For the holster, there's a bunch of build threads here, may I suggest Panda's excellent thread? http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9781&hl=&fromsearch=1 He also has a tutorial on how to unbunch the crotch area. The hardest part seems to be the BACK Armor piece. I don't see how that is supposed to stay on. What do you velcro it to? I don't get it. There's no way I could put that back piece on by myself. Again, eeeh... You mean the tank? Again, Panda's thread. I looked all around but is there a thread or post that shows EXACTLY HOW TO PUT ALL OF THIS ON? And if there isn't, might i suggest one? I'm not sure if you mean dressing, or putting it together, but for putting it together, Panda, to dress your self, read above. And leave the CAPS at home.
Obey Wann
I always have to have help with the velcro on the cummerbund and vest. It's called handlers, and the 501st would be a wreck without them. Here's the order I use for my snow scout, which is very similar to a regular "summer" scout: Jumpsuit balaclava cummerbund vest knees (always before boots) boots shoulder bells forearms (biceps) belt chest & back gloves bucket I have straps going from my chest to back, and they have snaps on them, so I can break them apart for storage. I put velcro on the vest shoulders and bells, so they go on with ease. Good luck!

matt8199
Thanks for all the input. I love the you tube video. A lot more of it makes sense now. However, my forarms are only attatched with the elastic band on one sode of the armor and not the other. I think it came off somehow. Not sure how to fix that but I will have to try I guess.. LOL. Now just have to find some rivets or whatever to attatch my holster. (next up)
matt8199
UPDATE: I had a small setback. I realized my REDKAP flightsuit was actually a bit small and tight on me SO, I decided to order another one (this time I went with a 40 LONG instead of a reg 40). Now I'm having a lady modify it (take off pockets, add patches and buttflap). That same lady is ALSO doing my VEST. Next I'm attaching my holster with rivets I have yet to purchase (but will do so soon). After that: I should be all done! It's just a matter of trying everything on and makeing sure it all fits properly and everything looks good and in the correct place. Can't wait to finish up and send my approval pics. Should be happening sometime in early May.
