thisiskevin's pre-clearance!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I've finally managed to finish up the soft parts and because i've gained quite some weight they're a bit too tight now... (especially the flightsuit) but after i wear the armor, i think it looks ok :D

Really looking forward to feedbacks and advices from everyone! Please let me know if there is anything that needs to be fixed!

Sorry about the sofa on the background, its 11.47pm and i just can't wait until tomorrow morning to get photographed :D

p.s. I have already ordered a replacement dropboxes from MLC, i've noticed that the current one is a bit big.

Looks pretty good. A few things I noticed:

- you need the greeblies for the thermal detonator.

- you could consider adding the second strap to the knee

- you need the stripes on the tank

- can't tell from the photos, but did you paint in the grey line on the chest plate?

I highly recommend the top knee strap. It made a huge difference with keeping my knees in place.

Also, though it's not required, rounding the bottom corners on the shoulder bells really looks sharp.

Nice job!

I would even up those pouches. Take some display board (foam board) type material - hard thin corrugated - and make some boxes to slide in the pouches.

This way you can make them identical outside of the pouch and once you insert them, both pouches will be exactly the same and clean and crisp. Leave the top open so you can slide your wallet and cell in.

I know you are ordering new drop boxes, make sure they are even and about 1 1/2 to 2 inches below your belt.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi Guys!

Just want to share the updates on the armor, finally managed to finish everything (except the 2nd knee strap, still trying to get some elastic straps) and managed to force my wife to take the photos :D

Major thanks to John, Ronnie and Andry for all the feedbacks (and of course Panda Trooper for the excellent guide!). Here are the things that i've done since the first post:

1. Thermal detonator greeblie

2. Stripes on tank

3. Gray paint on chest plate

4. Cardboard inside the pouches

5. Rounded the edges of the shoulder bells

And here are the photos! :D (last pose is a bit awkward, need to get used to the armor :P)

edit: retook the photo from the back as per Keith's instruction.

Looking good! A few items:

Tank topper needs the white circle and should have a backing washer behind the rivet

http://www.501st.com/databank/File:TB_scout_back.jpeg

Try adjusting the bend and/or the length of the shoulder joins to reduce/eliminate the gap between the armor and your back. Do you have the flak vest on? Sometimes the black material details dont show up on pics well due to the light reflecting off the bright white armor. Same with the suede riding patches; can't really see them.

The material that joins the shoulders - can you rotate that around so we don't see the edges? Have the join of the material against the body instead.

Almost there!

Hi Todd, thanks for the feedback!

I'm ordering a new tank topper from MLC, which "should arrive in 14-16 weeks" according to them... and i'm also ordering the tbits, TD greeblies and snout.

As for the chest armor, i'm seriously considering about cutting them a bit because they are slightly too big on me. I also need to modify the biceps and shoulder bells. I have never ever work with a heat gun before and i'm a bit scared of wrecking them so i've spoken to my GML and we're trying to set up a time for a short workshop/tutorial on how to use the heat gun :D

Will post updates again as soon as i've done the fixes! (as for the tanktopper, it'll take a while until i have them though)
