FemScout Undersuit

Ladies of Pathfinder, what have you done for your Undersuit? All the flightsuit/coveralls I see suggested on here are men's. While I know my way around a sewing machine (made a full TK quilt for my SO) I'd like to get some options before I make my own or tailor the crap out of mens coveralls. I'm 5'8 and 129lbs, so tallish and slender. Also how form fitting can it be? Is bunching an issue on loose suits? So many questions.

Really, it's only the legs and the arms that need tailoring because the rest is covered over by the cummerbund and the flak vest.

 

It wants to be comfortable, but not tight like some form of wetsuit, and it also needs to fitted, and not baggy like CoCo the Clown's trousers!

 

Just give yourself a couple of inches breathing room all round and you'll be fine.

 

Just make sure you have full movement range in it. So crouch down whilst swinging your arms in circles whilst in it.

If anything tears... it needs to be a bit bigger.

Mt wife is 5'7 & 115lbs, 36DD. She wears a size 36 in Redkap, fits her perferct. No butchering needed. Just the regular mods to make it 501st approvable.

Thank you so much! I guess if the 36 is short in the legs (my legs are crazy long) I'm wearing boots so it won't look ridiculous if short. Everyone is so helpful here

My wife has long legs too & the 36 reg fits her fine. But if you really think you have unusually long legs, go with a 36 long.

My inseam is just barely under 35" I look very short when sitting down. However flood pants will be covered by boots, so maybe 34 Ref will be good to go. Thanks for the link Chunk!

There's also the option of a 2 piece shirt and pant combo (matching fabric).

 

If you don't care about going Lancer, it makes life easier for the ladies when, *ahem* nature calls.

I would love to wear full seat breeches (which are comfy and make sense for the costume) but I love the idea of being a Lancer...or even just trooping

I'm actually a lady who doesn't like the two-piece option. I practically de-kit when I go to the bathroom, anyway, so it kinda defeats the purpose, plus it drives me nuts when the shirt gets untucked or twisted around (as it inevitably does).

I was worried about it getting twisted. I find tucked in shirts very uncomfortable. I eventually went with coveralls and just altered them a ton! Took a lot of work, but they fit me much better now.

New member here with noob questions.......What is a "Lancer"?

In the Costume Reference guidelines there is a "Level 2" guideline for additional costume authenticity over and above the basic requirements. For the Pathfinders (the 501st biker scouts), this additional level is termed Lancer.

I just have a standard red kap suit. The most I've done to it is hem the legs so I wasn't walking on them and hem the sleeve. You don't need anything special or different from the guys.

Kelsey, if you do like to sew it never hurts to have a back up set of under suit..being a two piece.

 

Trust me when your waiting in line up to 2 hours at the marshalling area for a parade in Armour, you going to need to go to the bathroom....

 

My last parade was from 9.30 to 12 in armour, near the end my feet killed me but had no problem when i needed to go.

I found making my own custom fit set of coveralls easier than trying to tailor men's coveralls, there was just too many fitting issues for my liking.

 

I'd like to make a set of top and pants as well for the reasons M.J mentions above. One solution to keeping the top tucked in is to attach a bikini-type bottom that has snaps at the crotch.

As a fem scout, I was worried about bathroom breaks too but went with the 1-piece suit anyway. So far it hasn't been a problem. You get so caught up in the troop you don't have time to even think about bathroom breaks! My 1-piece RedKap is super comfortable, tho I had to go with the 'long' option even though I'm 5'10". If you have the time and patience, you can always mod the 1-piece RedKap to start and get approved with and build the 2-piece afterwards as a backup. Just a thought.
