Mnt33r
Is there a current undersuit preference for Lancer between the military type flight suit and work coveralls? I purchased both the Tru-Spec 27-P and Red Kap Twill Action Back Coverall. Just curious what others think before I start ripping pockets off one and send the other back. My initial thoughts are: 27-P - Pro: Lighter-weight material, will be much cooler in summer heat - Pro: Two-way front zipper, easier/quicker access for #1 business - Con: More pockets/zippers to remove/hide Red Kap - Pro: Easier to mod - Con: Much heavier material, hotter during summer events - Con: One-way zipper down I also noticed that the military flight suit has the prominent picture on the CRL. Does that mean it's the "norm"? I'm also curious how the Red Kap holds up to washing/drying since it's 35% cotton. Thanks, Dave
Darth Voorhees
i have a modded redkap. It has a 2 way zipper..the bottom zipper was just buried into the fabric lol. Ive also used it for hot day troops and was fine. I just didnt stay fully dressed under the cover all. No shirt and boxers, sometimes shorts as well. i will admit, i dont wash my jumpsuit much (not good for the suede) lol..febreeze is my friend lol...but when i do i wash it in cold water and hang dry, and i havent had any issues. Chunk
I use RedKap coveralls in all my mods, Biker, Tie, XWing & Scanning Crew. But Im guessing your more concerned about color fading. I've wore my Tie Pilot since 2009 & it still looks black. My Scout has seen more wear & tear as I've wore if steadliy for the last 2 years. I normally wash it about every other troop(unless I sweat alot. Then it goes in the wash soon as I get home) & hang to dry. If you like I can post pics of my Biker suit next to an unmoded RedKap suit as Im making a few right now & have access to a new RedKap.
Dart
If you find the RedKap coveralls to be warm, you can always get some mesh fabric/sport cloth from the fabric store, cut some holes in the chest and sew the mesh in. I've got something like that for both my jumpsuit and my vest and it makes life so much easier in the heat.
Mnt33r
How embarrassing! There is a zipper buried into the seam at the bottom--thanks for the assist! I like the mesh idea, too.
BobaFiend
I modded the RedKap coveralls for my Fett and X-Wing Pilot flightsuits and they're both pretty dang comfy. I plan to do the same for my scout since they're just so simply constructed and perfect for modifying. The military ones all seem to have double or triple secured seams and complex zip pockets that are a pain to take apart, especially if you need to put the seams back together after your modify the suit.
Mnt33r
I sent the Tru-Spec back and kept the Red Kap, will start modding it this weekend. Thanks for the help!
