Helmet padding

Recommended Posts

Just ordered a KS bucket and wanted to know what kind of padding would work best. Found some on eBay, but seems a bit excessive and would probably interfere with my headset. Any suggestions? I know I've seen some other types on occasion.

Some folks like the Skydex pads (or similar tac helmet padding).

Best thing to do is wait until you get your helmet before you buy anything. If you've got a large head, you won't need much padding.

Did you order the helmet as a kit or pre-assembled?

I got mine preassembled too. I took out the big foam strip that KS puts at the top of the bucket and replaced it with the foam disk in this pack. Works way better:

Yes definitely. One of the reasons why I wanted to change out KS's foam was that it was making the helmet sit too far above my shoulders. I have a long enough neck as it is. You'll want to try it on and see how it looks when you are suited up

Basically you'll want to take most of the foam in the KS helmet. It's not the best and not very comfortable. I do suggest a chin strap however in conjunction with helmet padding.

I was worried that the one on eBay would be too much with regard to trapping heat and sweat. Like a musty motorcycle helmet. I'm going to use batting and Velcro to make some cheek pads and head cover.
