Hey folks, I got a nice CB helmet and now dealing with the well known problem.

How can I modify the helmet to keep the visor stay open when lifted up or on the other side how to make it stay closed when looking down. I read about some "3M bolts" or "headband kit" and stuff but can't find any instructions with pictures how to modify my helmet.

Not too sure on that one. Christian would be your best source as to how to do that since he made the helmet.

Velcro may help it stay closed

I used Velcro on both my chin cup strap (black) and another little piece underneath. Hook side on the helmet and loop on the face mask. This keeps the seam nice and tight when closed. The hook on the chin strap flows all the way through to the inside where there is loop on the inside of the helmet. This makes the chin strap length adjustable.

As far as keeping it open I have no problems with my CB staying open. Maybe the bolts aren't tight enough on the inside?

Rare earth magnets might work also. I've been experimenting using them a lot in place of velcro and so far had great results.

I put a set of 1/4" magnets in each corner. Works like a charm.

I've love to figure out a little arm to hold it open while in the dressing room, though!

Just got this 3M bolts and tried to attach them yesterday, but they don't work on the CB fiber glass helmet v2 because the grey bolts are way too short. Since the helmet is made of fiber glass you don't have the chance to "press" anything together like the abs helmets. I just found a source on ebay with carriage bolts made of plastic in different sizes.

I will try to use them now because I already modified the hole to the size of the 3m bolts. :/
