Hey everyone...I'm new here. I have one piece to get for approval...the vest. I cannot find for the life of me a vest online. I have access to a sewing machine but absolutely no skill when it comes to sewing. If I could find a vest I could buy outright or send someone my measurements to have one made that would be great! If I could even get a pattern I'm sure I could work something out too...PLEASE HELP!!

It's actually a fairly simple pattern.

Go get yourself a raglan-sleeved shirt. Slip it over your jumpsuit and mark off where the sleeve should end.

Get some black material and some 2" velcro. Ask someone who sews to use that shirt as a pattern but to include the velcro at the back and some lines of quilting on the sleeves.

Bam. Done. :D

Right but if I need this for approval I'm not just going to sew stuff together and hope it looks right. If I'm going to do it I'm foing it right not half assed. It just blows my mind that there is no pattern for this vest even though it's a piece that is necessary for 501st approval.

Look at the galleries and check out what others have done. It's not as complicated as you might think. ;)

The only modifications to either of the above designs is to pad (slightly) the sleeves and do the quilting and make the back in 2 pieces (add 1" either side to account for the 2" velcro closure.)

I am in the same boat as the first guy. Just need a vest pretty much. It looks simple and all, but it's still too much for me to do. I don't understand some of it. I bought all my stuff, cuz I hate making stuff and sewing and all that, I'd rather spend the money and have it done nicely and correctly.

Apparently this can be done with everything but the VEST. Stupid vest, I didn't even realize we needed one at first...

SO: Now I have to have someone make me a vest. (The last time I did something like this, it was for my Jedi costume, and that didn't turn out very well. I had to scrap what she did and have it done all over again. More money AND she still tried to overcharge me for the work she did. Nothing can ever be easy. All I want to do is get a vest to finish my Biker Scout costume... SMH

There's a pattern in this thread:

I bought my vest from Christian, took about a month to get here to the US. I understand he may be having problems shipping lately though
