Dart
Just picked these up. Kinda nice, eh? Sad thing is, they don't fit my size 13 canoes. But, they're brand new. I mean, the insoles aren't even in the boots. They look like no one's actually even tried them on. This sparked a debate last night when I got them. A buddy of mine, who has some old Inter hiking boots (not the sneakers), and I have theorized that the versions used by the production probably weren't the Hi-Tec version, but the original Inter branded version. That would account for the difference in the sole (the line in the heel). Also, mine have a little tag which label these boots as the 4th version. We also theorized that the boots were probably made from leather, not vinyl. That was come to by the fact that the uppers on these are canvas and there's no good way to form and shape the vinyl like we do for our current boots. They were probably formed and then sewn to the barrel of the boot by way of the dogbone (hence the two rows of stitching), and then the toes were stitched from the side onto the boot. The stitiching was then covered by the strip. Either way, I'm stoked to get these and I'm willing to take more photos for our records.
4505Marcel
I've just completed a leather scout boot conversion for a collector using these same sneakers. Just a shame they are not the 100% accurate ones. The soles on his have gone really stiff, so definitely now shoe their age. Still a nice thing to own
4505Marcel
Vynil actually is really easy to work round these, I used leather for the first time and really struggled to get them hear to where I wanted the look to be

Dart
how did you did you find these??? Pure luck while flipping through my favourite online auction site. I saw them and even though they don't fit, I bought them.
clonecollector
Nice find! Would it be possible to post some pics of the cutouts around the soles? It would be nice to see them for reference.
4505Marcel
These don't have the correct sole cuts Paul
Chex
Cloese, but no cigar. Still, very nice find. And according to Gino, leather was used on the boots.

I don't think I could use an extra kidney... maybe a bit of liver instead? Yeah, I've actually got another pair (larger but the camo/green combo) and I'm gonna see if I can't add that horizontal line. I'll know for sure by this weekend. I remember seeing the green ones on ebay a while back but after preordering my helmet my costuming fund has come to a screetching halt. Plus they were green and not tan but I still would have bought them... Was it the same pair that I saw?
Dart
Dunno if they were the same pair. They're well used from what I've seen.
Junglie Scout
You certainly saw the right pair. Inter and Hi-tec made four iterations of the Sierra Sneaker. I still don't know which one they used on screen though. As far as I can tell the only obvious difference (and important one for us!!) is the horizontal line around the sole. riddeth
hei Andry, just notice that the boots in the galley is Inter boots. They has the same sole, no horizontal line.
Junglie Scout
Inter and Hi-Tec were the same company. Only Hi-Tec remains I'm afraid. I think the type of sneaker we're looking for is the Sierra Sneaker III and I think we'll be hard pushed to find them I'm afraid.

Junglie Scout
I can only surmise that they are the III's as I have a copy of a magazine from around the mid 80's and those were the ones on sale at the time.

Junglie Scout
Its not very interesting but it appears to come from backpacker magazine issue 44.
Death31313
I wonder if it would be possible to make a recast of the soles for these boots out of liquid latex. With some cobbling and elbow grease one could make a purpose built set of scout trooper boots.
