TreeDodger72 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I am new to costume builds and am assembling my SC bucket. I have a couple of questions: 1. The side vents in the CRL are black, but the instructions that I got with my bucket make no reference to doing anything to those side vents. Should I be painting them with the same paint I use on the snout or is there something I am missing. 2. When I glued the dome to the back of the bucket, there is a slight gap between the back and the dome on the left side. You can't really see the gap except from the top. Do I need to use putty to fill that gap? If I use putty, is that going to cause a color issue with the raw ABS color? Or is this something I don't really need to worry about as it is only slight and visible only from the top. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Chef Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 ear vents should be cut out bud. Paint the INSIDE of the ears black to create depth. As for gaps... Personally, I'd fill the gap and paint the entire bucket, but I know of a lot of scouts who don't and just deal with any small gaps.
Gato Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I had a little gap and filled it with white adhesive caulk cause I didnt want to paint the whole bucket either. My helmet is lightly weathered though. And yes...cut out the ear vents like Chef said.
