Voodoo Warrior
How do I attach the tank to the rear armor? Do I use bondo with fiberglass strips along the edges where the tank meet the back plate? I am so lost!!! PS...I have never used bondo before!! Gaunt899
Just attach it with two screws, one on the tank topper and one below;see some WIPs for reference. You dont have to fill the gap between the tank and the back, just make sure they are close together. Grumpy
Checkout Dan Trippler's build. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=12127 He has a set of Bikerchick armor also. His build thread shows some good pics onhow to attach the tank. And, bondo is your friend. It's interesting to work with. Plus, the sanding involved afterwards... Also, with a scout tank, do NOT attach it with with a screw on the top and on the bottom. The scout tank does not attach with screws. Please use rivets. Voodoo Warrior
Hi Dan!!! Thanks for the heads up on the tank! I was finally able to glue the tank to the back armor. I have not bondo yet. I used your method of the strips but I used abs plastic. I am also using gorilla glue that is clear when applied but then changed into a white frothy foam just like insulation in a can. I think I will add that on inside edge of the tank via the opening in the back armor plate.
bselphfsu282
Voodoo, I used CA glue with zip kicker, so essentially the same glue. I would recommend reinforcing it from the inside like you said. It helped a good bit. You will have some flex while wearing the piece so it's good to reinforce as much as you can.
