stasz Posted January 4, 2015 Share Posted January 4, 2015 I had a very Pathfinder-Full Christmas, and was able to start getting some things together for my rig - flightsuit, gloves, and boot materials. I never thought I'd be asking for Jo-Ann Fabrics giftcards! I decided to have a go at the heel carving and am pretty happy with the result. The boots are Texas Steer ($20 from Kmart) and are very light and fairly comfortable for the price. And if I blew it, $20 isn't too much of a hit... I tried a few different patterns sketched out onto the heel before hacking away with X-Actos, and the one I liked the look of best is below. It's not exact, but i thought it looked the best working with the existing tread and contours. stasz Posted January 12, 2015 Author Share Posted January 12, 2015 All I can smell is E-6000 and warm vinyl. I'm living in constant fear of finding that one last thumbtack with my bare foot, but... My boots are done! For my first try I'm pretty pleased. Now, armed with a little knowledge and enough left over material, I think I'll scoop up another pair of base boots and make another pair. I'm still kicking around taking the top of the back notches out, Chex. My concern is that then the top and bottom notches would be pretty much equal size and it looked to me like the top notches were smaller than the bottom. I pretty much followed it exactly, and if something wasn't clear I just hit the forums. The answers are there. Or anyone would be happy to point you on the right direction.
