Shoulder bell strapping

One of the next things I want to tackle is getting a more screen-accurate shoulder bell. My current SC one is a little too long and not cut quite right.

 

Right now I'm using 1 1/2 inch (closest American size to 35mm) elastic around the bottom of the bell to secure it to my arm, but looking at the Costumes book (or as it is called in my home, the Bible), that doesn't seem quite right.

 

This took a lot of squinting and playing with the contrast, but it appears the elastic is thinner, maybe only an inch, and comes down at an angle from the center of the bell to wrap around the arm. The MOM exhibit also had similar strapping.

 

 

Anyway, food for thought!

mine is 1"...............the shoulder strapping that is!!! lol

 

The elastic angles slightly down due to the fabric under my arm just pulling it

I have the 1 1/2 going straight across from the bottom of the bell. Probably going to change it to look more like the screen scout!
