Donovan
Hey long Time no see everybody, its been awhile since I've posted but I have been reading the forums and since the discovery of how the cummerbund and vest actually fit together I was thinking about if this would effect lancer status or even basic clearance for the future pathfinders like myself. I would like to get some sort of answer before I completely remake my cummerbund to fit these new discoveries. Or is this too new for us to even think about is changing the specs in the crl?
4505Marcel
The staff did discuss this not so long back, there will be no changes to either CRL. As long as once fully suited up a trooper looks right and in proportion. What's hidden underneath is a troopers choice. There probably will be a couple of small, detail changes, such as the TD clips. But the issue we have, is there is very little interest in the Lancer programme, so making it much harder will just end it I recon. The BSN as a whole seems to have a really good attitude towards accuracy now, people making changes, without the need for a title because of it. When I first became DL I got shot down for wanting troopers to add a riding patch, or more importantly a vest and so on. Look at us now, digging for details all the time. Something I'm very proud of, the scout costume is no longer an inaccurate easy costume that someone does for his wife's cousin just to get them into the legion.
Chef
And you should be proud.... It's difficult to make changes against resistance. Especially when those changes are necessary and the right thing to do. But look at the detachment now. It's probably one of the best inhabited, easy going and engaged groups there is. And I think that people striving for accuracy for the sake of accuracy, rather than a 'badge' is actually a good thing. The standards have improved, and thats only credit to yourself, and those who build their costumes. What a lot of people don't realise is that now, their costumes are probably up to Lancer Spec as it is (short of maybe a few tweaks). They probably just need to go through the submission process. Maybe time for a bit of a push?? From what I see, having Multiple levels such as the FISD, has only been divisive and caused argument. As it stands, what we have here is a mindset to be the best we can be, but with a clearly defined "goal line" for people to get over. We don't compartmentalise people into "my costume is better than yours because...."
Donovan
Thanks you guys for clearing that up. I just wasn't sure if this would effect clearance or not. I probably am still going to make these changes just because I strive for accuracy but its good knowing it won't effect new members
Thxboy
:applause: This is one of the things about the scouts that attracted me to this group. I've been a member of the SLD for a while and it's a very similar feeling over there. We've put our advanced standards program on hold for almost 3 years now and it hasn't stopped us from trying to achieve as close to screen accurate as we can. Lots of the same detailed conversations happen over there. Really looking forward to getting my scout done. I'll say this: I'm grateful for the Lancer program since it provides me with great guidance on how to achieve the best scout I can do, but I don't care a fig about the actual badge. Thanks for being awesome scouts!
BikerScout007
And that's why I love this group. We are always striving to be the best
TB-7076
I haven't taken part on discussions on FISD yet and it might be there is a more hostile atmosphere but we have to consider: The TK branches still represent the major bulk of people in armor and therefore have more traffic and minds colliding. Also they have what we don't have or of any only partially: ...armors of almost 100% original descent. I also think that multiple levels are not that clever but on the other hand theor "Centurion"? level being the highest and most accurate is something I admire seeing how the lancer status and possibilities actually are inferior to that one. You see this is something I always hated about the lancer status...it is superior to the minmum 501st standard but just mediocre at best compared to the real thing while TKs have the ultimate advantage in regards to screen authenticity. Also tje "grandfathering"aspect os something I don't like. Don't like it within the legion system and therefore can't accept it in a master class. I know some improve their gear ince bew knowledge of the costume surfaces but a good deal just rests on a title once achieved or even don't own the gear anymore. I personally think that is kind of sad. And that is another factor I never was keen belonging to this lancer faction. My major gripe has been the exclusion of armor shapes as I think it harmed the progress of developing the moulds any further. We're still not there where we could be and I claim that is not a problem based on the fact we totally lack any physical reference of the armor. That said I always saw the necessity to offer some extra Motivation for people to go beyond standard. Which is why I contributed to the think tank and avoided to take a position as I do now. So yeah I actually think the time has come to collectively think about the future of the lancer specs.
