Flight suit/coverall recommendations

Hey guys, I'm looking for a flight suit or coverall to modify, and I can't seem to find one that will jive with Lancer requirements. I already have the suede, I picked it up from Tandy Leather a while back, I just need an acceptable suit.

I am very partial to military flight suits, mostly because I have several and I know what size fits me well. However, they have a slight pocket issue...

There's a zippered gap on the hip of the standard military flight suit, which allows you to get at your pockets in the pants you're wearing underneath. All the other pockets on the arms and legs are removable, but this is pretty integrated. I'm guessing this means this style of suit is a no-go?

I've also looked at RedKap coveralls, but their collars don't zip up all the way, so replacing the collar would be problematic.

So, I need some recommendations. Or if one of the aforementioned options will work, that's great, too. Just a little lost. :)

Yeah if we can see a pocket, it'll be a no go for Lancer. Your GML may still approve it for basic clearance tho Redkaps are good, and if you know a seemstress, getting a mandarin collar done shouldn't be a problem.

Here's what you want. It's a Redkapp & it can be modified to Lancer Specs. This is what I use in my Lancer & basic riding suits. All you need to do is remove all the outter pockets, & add the real suede & take in the legs about 1 1/2" to make it Lancer. Sew closed the mechanics pockets, but add a thin strip of velcro to the hip slash pockets to keep closed & you will have 2 usable hip pockets for keys, phone... ect. The velco will not be noticeable & it will pass Lancer because it will look as if yuo have no pockets. With the pocket material you can make a neck flap closeure. Problem solved. If you register for their website, they will send you a discount code the week of Thanksgiving & you can use it for 10% off. They run holidays sales with every holliday.

I have a question, if anyone can help me out. Ive looked online for a Redkap suit that will fit me and ship all the way to me in the frosty north. Unfortunately, amazon does ship here but they dont have my size (42 Long)

I found coveralls at my local works warehouse that fit. The only problem is it feels heavy on me, maybe because I have never worn them before. Can anyone compare these to the redkap suit? And maybe if its worth picking up

They look just about the same as the Redkap. As much as one can tell from the pics.

I got a 42 long, and the chest/torso/ arms fit great, but from the waist down there was a LOT of room.

Like, they would've been baggy on J Lo :)

Now, that's on me obviously, but I did take them in a couple inches from the waist and legs, and hemmed them a bit.

I don't want to do too much more yet to see where everything ends up once the bund and armour are on top.

There's a pic of the pocket/collar mod that Chunk mentioned in this thread:

I did this on mine using a leftover butt pocket and it worked great.
