UT Trooper
Hey Everyone. With lots of help from these forums and members I am just about finished with my scout. It is VERY rewarding to be at this point! I hope it is okay I am posting this in this forum as there are still a few things left to finish before I apply, but I want to make sure I am not missing anything. Below are some pictures from my first time suiting up with nearly everything on, what an amazing feeling. BTW - I am not going for Lancer. Here is the current list of items that I still need or need to do: -Attach holster to boot -Flak vest (making it myself) -balaclava -paint the soles of the boots -sew chevron into diaper -actually attach the pouches (they are just pinned on right now) -build better attachment for TD -add velcro to kneepads, shoulder pads, behind cummerbund (on the suit) -need to buy a case to transport everything Helmet: NI Armor: SC Boots: selfmade Cummerbund/pouches: selfmade Flight Suit: Red Kap coverall w/ real suede in crotch and butt flap Gloves: Wampa Probably a lot of other things I'm not thinking about, please share if you see anything! I can't wait to get this finished and start trooping with you guys (and girls)!
jyjellyfish77
Not bad. Just a couple things I see right off and mentioned in a thread I saw earlier today. -You may need to move the ribs on the bun closer together so you can fit them between your pouches. They should all be visible. - Move your shoulder bells up a little so they fit more naturally on your shoulders. On a side note: Could you post some pictures of just that helmet (NI) we've had discussions about it for a while now and I haven't noticed anyone that picked one up yet. There are a couple threads in the "Helmet" section about it or just a new thread so we can explore it. I'm interested how it stacks up against the others. Great work
UT Trooper
Yeah I haven't attached the velcro for the shoulders so it kept sliding down. I really hope I don't have to make the ribs smaller. IMO the larger ones look better, and if I remove that threading it will ruin the cummerbund. The helmet I bought off of Gato (Josh) from the forum. I will post up pics soon.
Chex
You're def gonna have to redo the rib stitching, sorry brother. Way too much space between the ribs. Use a seam ripper, pull the thread, then wash the bund. Then redo the ribs to make 5 visible ribs that are about an inch to inch and a half in width, depending on your size. I'd like to see your boxes come up about an inch, and def when you strap those bells, make sure they're higher. Remember, the elbow armor should sit on the outside of the gloves, not tucked inside. Also, round off the edges of your shoulder bells. You don't have to round them off, but it looks better. Not a bad job on everything though. The reason I say you need to redo the stitches, is because the stitching is just way to wide, and your GML (Looseton) will notice that and more then likely have you fix it before approves it. Also, if you're on the Ga Garrison boards, shoot him a message and get his input on it as well. Or you can do it here as well.
UT Trooper
I don't think washing the bund after pulling the stitches will help much, it will still look bad, the holes will be large enough to see when close. I'm wondering if making the pouches smaller and more apart would help.
cucblack
Really good Job. But need some adjustments and changes. - Pouches too big for your frame body. Please resized. - Shoulders bells must move up. - Forearm and bicep must in the correct place. - Belt boxes must move up.
UT Trooper
The drop boxes need to move up?
UT Trooper
As requested here are some shots of the NI helmet. The helmet is gorgeous and really shines in the light. Definitely on the larger side, but I have a huge head and broad shoulders so it fits me fine. It's a bit heavy and somewhat fragile since it's fiberglass (probably can't take a drop). I also ordered a KS bucket which should be here this week or next. I figured I would either sell this one or save it as a backup for special events.
