MC or SC - what is your preferation and why?

Recommended Posts

Hy Folks

I balance between the SC or the MC Armor - both have pros and cons..

my sc pro:

production time

my mc pros:

a bit more accurate than sc

comes with instruction cd

assembled tank available

my mc cons:

production time

what are your pros and cons and what was it, that led to your final decison?

Not really anything to add to what you have written. But I guess it just comes down to trooper height. MC is aimed at shorter troopers, the armour parts don't scale right for most. SC seems to suit more troopers. But remember there are other armours available now which is good

If you're a lot larger than 180cm and of a more massive built I'd opt for SC.

Around 180 and smaller you might better chose MC even if waiting time is a problem.

Every armor has its up and down sides. There is no armor out there without any issues in detail. Some more some less and often in different areas.

Personally I still prefer MC for the alround package and being of a comparable good and sharp pull quality. Still I have my gripes with this one too. For my future gears I try to get someone to try it again from scratch though.

If time and also customs is of concern you can also chose for the UK based armor. You shouldn't be too big though same as with the MC kit in some parts even smaller (knees, chest) which can be of advantage in some cases.

The problem with size is that we have no actual sizes to have movie accurate standard to model from. There is only guessing via dubious measureing techniques and comparing scales and lengths with known parts by eyeballing pictures which are difficult due to angles and their contortions.

Ideally there would be at least two sizes like Kevin offers with his clone suits but well - doing armor on a private base is already hard enough to stem and motivate oneself for.

Regarding shapes you may consider the age of an armor pattern. The SC while still good for large people and in its time almost unchallenged in the whole for some time is older than the MC moulds benefitting from a lot of new knowledge about the costume.

Im not sure if Jeff updated all of his parts - I think he moulded a new helmet but I'm not sure about his armor parts.

It is a very difficult decision and I can only advise to go to an event and compare armors. In most of the larger events you have at least the better known armors present -> KS,SC,MC. Photographs cannot show you everything and preferences of others may not be your's.

I#m about 1.80 and, well lets say, i am not the biggest, but also not the thinnest..so from what i've heared till now, the sc would be the best choice when it comes to a "bigger sized armor"

in my area there aren't any events to visit..all are a few hours away..

Sc can be made to fit smaller frames, we have female troopers that have done just that. Mc on the other hand looks silly in larger troopers as the scale is gone, mc is slightly more accurate. But that being said sc is improving parts all the time.

Actually, I've got MC armour and I don't find that it's too small for me. If anything, I feel like all the pieces are the best in proportion compared to to KS or SC.

That said, I think that anyone much bigger than myself (6'2", 250lbs) probably would be better suited to SC.

I'm only about 5'5 and sc fits well. Jeff has been updating his parts, he's updated his knees, forearms, he's working on the chest,(so I can assume he's working on the back as well) and I heard rumors about the helmet being updated

I think another thing to consider here is that MC makes more than just a scout, wheras SC only (publicly) shows a few different types of props for sale, unlike the many, many props that MC builds. I think that's a big reason he can turnaround a TB order much faster than MC can.
