Hola, all! Today, I got home and upon my porch was a big box... and in that box was ....

DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNN

My TB armor! That being said, I'm going to start this little thread for progress, pics, comments, etc etc and to get to know my fellow tree dodging (actually seem better and hitting them) comrades in armor. That being said, shall we begin?

This is a mix of sorts that I snagged from a gentleman on this very forum!! Most of the pieces are MC with a touch of SC for good measure, it seems. The fellow was intent on getting Lancer status over there so it's pretty much on point. Ignore the Monster High puzzle and the Dr. Doom template, please LOL

It has all the goodies but a quick question to all the scouts... I noticed a gap between the armor and the tank. Any simple recommendations on how to fix it? Perhaps gluing some screws on the inside of the tank and tightening it?

As it is, I have the helmet (a CB) on da way, yo. So, soft parts, here I come and hopefully, in a pretty timely manner, I can join the esteemed ranks of the 501st Pathfinders!

Oh, your hump is fine. ("What hump?") But seriously, I have at least that much gap, as do others. The tank often doesn't sit perfectly flush.

That helps to settle my obsessiveness! Definitely appreciate it! Now, I just need to push the song "My Humps" out of my head. Thanks LOL

Looks fine. Look at some of the humps in the movie! They're all over the place.

While it might look annyoing the gap is actually screen accurate in case it settles your disappointment.

I myself prefer it over the integrated tanks which looks completely strange.

However I wish there was something that would make it look as if it was more solid under that mantlet surrounding something.

I plan to do one realistic interpretation of the scout once I have my other two completed and matching the reference.

Will use the current costume to realize this then.

But for the 501st I can live with a gap :)

Looks great. As the others say, the gap is OK. It's only us that notices as well ;-)

For your shoulder bridges I recommend having a piece of elastic and velcro to hang the shoulder bells on. MC should have given you instructions for that. Otherwise just shout out and we can show you.

"TB... or not TB..."

I see what you did there. Fun! :)

I try!

Well, as far as the shoulder bells go, I did more than just gaze at awe at it today. I actually - gasp - took it out of the bubble wrapper and toyed with it.... the gentleman I bought it from was more than close to wrapping up on it, I believe, and they had the "t" formation of velcro that went a little something like this!

That sort of what you were talking about, Patrik?

So, that keeps the top portion closed pretty tightly. I am going to need to put some velcro on the inside as the velcro he has isn't far enough "in" to keep it snug on me just yet.

Well, I attended a local comic convention (and saw a sick lookin' TB while there) and upon my arrival back home (after roughly 10 hours on the road -.-), I found my bucket waiting for me! I'll slide some pictures up later but it's a CB helmet and messing with it, I must say it's pretty large which works for me since I can wear it with or without glasses and plenty of room for fans (cause I've been told that's always a perk to have in your helmet).

Who's excited?

This guy!

Easy fix this problem. Tank was cut in straight line, wrong. Must have same shape that armor, curved in some areas.

Tada! Ignore my stove. Here's the CB helm... I got to put it together (which I will work on next week since I got about a week long break between classes) but I'm all sorts of giddy!

Gonna have to tweak this a little bit, paint wise. I was thinking of using painting tape to make the edges more crisp and then to fill in the black. Now, the white paint that was used is a gloss automobile paint but my workplace doesn't have it in black. I was thinking of using Krylon fusion black gloss for the snout.

As far as the inside goes, I'm going to run some black fabric around the backside of the helmet so that the ears won't show the inside. Then, it's on to the stickers, lens and snout greeblies. Hopefully will have it completed by next week.

Got started on the bucket... sticker time... need to finish up that paint on the snout. Gonna go with a satin black. Also need to snag some new mesh for the ears.

Also served to help get my brother interested in the 501st! w00t. Winning.

And here we go..... I grabbed a helmet liner and with it centered, it is just a little snug with my glasses but that's no biggie by far. I'm not too happy with the 'curve' on the left (right in the pic) but I can prolly get a little paint and make it more natural. Either way, I'm a lil' excited...

Looking good so far. As for the tank, it's fine. Considering that the way they originally attach to the back plate isn't any of the ways we do it today, it looks good. And no, the rivets to not attach the tank to the back plate. But that's the way we all do it.

Sorry, I missed this. That's just perfect!

Well, I'm not gone. I promise ya, scouties! As a random update, CB told me that my soft parts shall be ready soon! That being said, I'm now on the search for a blaster; the last piece to this puzzle. I'm leaning towards snagging a 'budget blaster' from NegativeEleven and getting geared to join the elite ranks of the 501st!

Appreciate the support, Stasz! If you can't depend on your scout brethren (or soon to be scout as in my case), who do you have? Nobody. Not even Jar Jar.

But I do have a bit of good news! My budget blaster from Chris has arrived! It's my first ever blaster and I cut it open in front of my mother and this is how it went:

Mom - "What's that?"

Me - "A blaster! For my costume that I'm working on."

Mom - "So, it's a toy?"

Me - "Um... No. At the least, it's a prop. You don't play with it."

Mom - "So... it's a toy."

Me - "...... don't make me blast you."

And here are some pics! I know it's not the most awesome thing in the world but it's mine!

Really that blaster doesn't look half bad at all. Just need to go over it with some paint and it will look right as rain! Glad to see your progress coming along.

Good Lookin' hardware.

Is that resin or hard rubber?
