My boot build

I'd try to make the ridges thinner so that the lower carvings are longer than the upper ones.

At least in that perspective the carved sections - lower and upper - seem to be equally proportioned though if you look cloesely you can see the original shows a difference in length of upper and lower.

Also the second carving from right the center of the boot usually is thinner than the others if you look at the reference you also placed next to the boot.

But as your heels - like most btw. - are lower in general I understand that this might be hard to achieve the right proportions. It is already hard enough not having the right tools for such a job.

My current are even lower so that I had to skip it completely :(

Other than that - nice work going beyond the average.

It is tough to get a feel for what the distances/widths are supposed to be. Those cuts are on the inner face of the one boot and like you said they should be thinner and gapped better. I think I am going to try and blow up the picture and make a stencil of the spacings, even if it is just holding the boot up to the computer screen for sizing.

I was thinking about it last night - does anyone with original boots have the ability to provide a stencil of at least the outer side? If not just measurements of what each raised area should be?

I don't know why I didn't think it this earlier but here is my next attempt. I am going to go buy a cheap pair of boots at good will to practice on first to make sure it works.

Blew up a picture from SC site on my screen. Held the actual boot up till it was sized correctly. Then took Vellum tracing paper and taped it to the screen. I lightly traced the pattern from the screen onto the paper. I am going to transfer the pattern to the boot base. May need to shift it a bit to accommodate the different sized/contour of the sole but I think it should make it look better than just random notches. The perspective of the pic with the actual boot in it looks off but when you stick it up flat to the screen it is a match

Can do that but you have to wait until friday or weekend.
