Guest Rosemourne Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I've looked at the different types of helmets on the boards and in the stickied threads (Which, honestly, seem outdated - Are they still valid?) and I've one thought on them: I'm concerned about the quality of preassembled helmets. Due to a PCS, I've had to get rid of quite a few tools, so I am unable to make one myself presently. I imagine I'll start on a project or modify the helmet once I've moved overseas. If I purchase a kit and pay to have SC build it, is the quality good? If not, what other helmets can I get preassembled that are? Thanks!
BikerScout007 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I got a pre-assembled KS. It's a fine lid. Needs some modifications to make it more screen accurate, but is good enough for 501st clearance as-is.
Pandatrooper Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 SC is a slightly smaller kit than KS. SC uses thicker plastic than KS, feels quite a bit sturdier.
Guest Rosemourne Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Good to know. I'm a slightly smaller person (5' 6.5"), but with a 7 1/2 noggin'. SC might still be the better option for me. Thanks much for the heads up. Does the SC preassembled kit require modification for approval into 501st?
Pandatrooper Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Not that I'm aware of. Helmet should fit you just fine.
Heavy Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I got a my helmet build by Jeff from SC and no problems at all ! You will need to cut the ear holes and paint the bolts or change them to the "right" ones, but if I could do it, so can you
42unclejoe Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Heavy, where did you get your bolts? I just got my prefab helmet from SC and love it. Just need to change the bolts.
Tristancraig Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Heavy, what color are the bolts supposed to be, I read it somewhere but now can't find it again.
spike Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 the actual colour for the bolts is a off white/bone but light grey is how they appear on film so thats the go. cheers
