I saw armor for sale by Studio creations, do anyone have a review on that and is it acceptable for trooping in the 501. I should be able to do the assembly myself with a little time. Thx. 1

Fettski Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I agree with both. I have yet to troop in mine but i have worn it around my neighborhood. I don't have another set of armor to compare it to but my purchase and build were enjoyable experiences. Great communication and value. I was comfortable paying the price for the kit with the helmet. The package is quite complete. I needed some e6000 and some additional velcro and webbing but i was trying to get closer to accurate. I also needed some rivets. I think i spent more time sewing velcro to elastic than anything else on the kit. having a cheap sewing machine will be very helpful. 2

But I havr talk ti someone in old line garrison and he said that the helmet was alittle small but armir was the best he seen, I have helmet but has little issues and I bout a pistol sesin I hear problem will be boots and gloves?

I have KS helmet and SC armor because of the KS being slightly larger, but I think it would have taken less time and anger to assemble an SC helmet kit. There's some flaws in the KS that made it not want to fit together properly. The KS armor is bigger in most places (bicep, forearm, knee) and has a nice return edge around each armor piece. I think the SC shapes are more accurate though. 3

You should try to come out to an event that myself or Grubzilla, or one of our other scouts and check out our armor. I did my boots myself and i would be happy to help with boots and point you in the right direction if you like my gloves. 2

Ok M.J: I think yo unjust sold me on that last comment. I'm in the process of researching and writing to people about female fitting and perhaps SC is what I should go wit too…I'm 5'4" - I'd love a MC uni but everyone here praises Sc as well.

So we are back to building another (I have too many kids) Every time I would shoot the guys from SC an email, they'd replied promptly and very eager to give me a hand. BTW she too is 5'4" or 5'3" one of my girls is either size ......

MC from what I understand can have some long waits. I have SC and am very happy with it. No opinion on either the SC or MC helmets (and actually, MC doesn't make a helmet, they sell the MLCs). I have a KS helmet, which is lightweight ABS and I'm happy with it.

NegativeEleven Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 If you're still on the fence, KS and SC helmets look the same in pictures. I've worn both and can say the KS is slightly bigger, but SC has better molds, so the kit is easier to assemble. KS will also require you to swap out the snout (or they did 18 months ago) for a more accurate one, while SC's snout is fine. I am wearing glasses in my KS, which I would have a hard time doing in SC. So that's the only deciding factor I needed. 1

I also got rid of the KS furniture pad bolt covers and used aluminum discs instead. But that head space though..... PS -- almost forgot, I removed the mesh in the ears, painted the inside of the bucket black, and added a chin cup But the KS helmet is light and spacious, even with all the mods you have to make
