Guest Lucky742
I'm new to this, and have been kinda confused on how to get started. I want to the best build possible, but don't want to break the bank. If anyone has any suggestions I am very willing to listen. Mike
EnigmaEngine
PM inbound. As far as money....the biggest cost-saving measure will be to do as much as possible yourself. Sewing your own undersuit, vest, cummerbund and pouches. Doing your own boots. Building your helmet instead of getting it pre-built. My build was pretty pricey, mostly because I commissioned just about everything.
BikerScout007
My build was pretty pricey, mostly because I commissioned just about everything. Yup. That's why I waited until I got my tax refund!
batninja
I made a point to buy what I could, when I could. Some things were difficult to find at the moment, so if I saw a hard-to-find piece I knew I'd need, and I had the money, I grabbed it. For instance, the Hyperfirm blaster is a rare item, so I was lucky enough to be able to buy it when one popped up in the Trade section. Some things need lead time (custom sewing, for instance), so plan accordingly. So if you need this costume in a specific timeframe, say, Halloween, don't wait until mid-October to buy it. Guest Maddog8400
I'm in the same boat as Lucky, though I am willing to spend the money. Enigma, could I get a copy of that pm as well? I'm having a hard time finding vendors for armor. I looked on the vendor page but it appeared they didn't sell anything from what I saw. The only set that I've found is from studiocreations. Is that any good?

mjboogie53
I just signed up myself and I am looking to get started. I understand putting my costume together is going to take awhile. I plan to buy the pieces here and there. whether they are already assembled or I have to put together. I am a bit limited with available free time, but will have funds to make purchases here and there. I am in located in St Louis Missouri and would love to find someone in my area who could be a mentor on the process. Any help with all this would be greatly appreciated. I know i just took a step into a much larger world and will be patient throughout the process. Im happy just to have got the ball rolling. Thank you everyone for reading this and hope to hear from you all soon. my email is mjordan@jordansc.com Matt
Halzgen
Does anyone actually craft the armor shuch as the Shoulder/Upper Arm/Forearm? If so where can you find out how to do that? I am very lucky cause my brother in law is enrolled in the 501st as an officer and he is a fantastic sewer. Hook up with people who know how to do it. He is teaching me on how to do the flight suit and I am very proud of it!
Kato
Hi. I'm Tony. I'm up here in Yakima WA. I was wondering on the costume kit from SC. Sounds like it's a good kit to get all the armor parts for and that other members have ordered from them. SC also says they can make the cumberbund. Did any members take SC up on their offer? Also saw a cumberbund on ebay? Is that another route. Also is the vest that appears under the chest armor now required? I also know of a company called US Cavalry that sells flight suits but don't know if these would meet 501st standards? Thanks for answers ahead of time. Soundwave
Matt, Send me a PM. I'll get you added on facebook and see what I can do to help you out. Mar, You're able to make molds and sculpt your own armor, if you know how. Otherwise, I'd suggest going through a major dealer/seller to get individual pieces. Tony, SC is top notch and as stated above, their customer service is second to none. Maybe I'm biased because It's what I use... But I am extremely pleased with it. It's an easy kit to assemble, and comes with greebles. It's sturdy thick plastic and will withstand some moderate abuse. I mean, I'm not saying take a baseball bat to it, But You can function and bend down on your knees to pose and such in it without having to worry about it breaking. I got all of my soft good from BSN member CucBlack. Marcel (above) also makes a bund. It's up to you where you order from, but those are some options. I'd say stay away from Amazon/Ebay for everything except maybe the gloves and possibly a blaster. I don't know much about the flight suit you're asking about... So, I can't honestly speak on that point. I hope this helps. Good Luck guys.
