Comeoutfighting
On a teacher's budget I probably will be a one costume guy for a long time so I am being careful not to make any hasty decisions and hoping to to do this right in on go. My initial thinking was that I would secure the ready to wear items first as it would get me started while I sort out the armor related issues which appear to be more complex. I was looking at the boots first and am curious to know how and why the CA boots are 501st legit but not kosher for lancer? I don't yet know what Marcel charges but I am a guy who would rather spend money than time or effort as I am not particularly crafty. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. have not gotten an email back yet but the ebay store listed for gloves in currently empty. The racing coverall appears to be out of stock in black so I am also wondering exactly what needs to be done to the collar on the other one in order to make it work? I think the pocket removal I can handle and at half the cost of the racing one I can afford to screw one up. Finally, has anyone had any contact with Kropserkel lately? I sent them an email almost a month ago asking about prices and turnaround time and haven't had so much as a peep from them
EnigmaEngine
Can't answer all of these, but! Since the only part of a donor boot visible is the sole, that's typically what makes the difference. I know Lancer requires a solid color tone and a certain amount of cutting to make the sole the same shape as the ones in the movie. Otherwise...tan work boot is approvable. I got my gloves from the trade section of these forums. I know Darth Voorhees recently found what might be an inexpensive option. As for KS, that's kind of typical. You can try finding and messaging them on Facebook. Apparently some people have had better luck that way. Sometimes they're relatively quick and reliable, others....unfortunately it doesn't seem terribly consistent. I didn't end up ordering from them, but they were quick to reply to my email.
Soundwave
Send Marcel a PM. I have some of his boots. They are good quality and well made. I had to buy some insoles for them to be comfy, But other than that, no complaints. Seems like I saw something about another worksuit that was close, maybe like... RedCap or something like that was the name of them? They're supposed to be good. Look up Biker Scout gloves on ebay, and Amazon. You may be able to locate some that way. If you email KS, be patient and persistent. Send them a message on facebook, too. Just my personal input here, if you're going to buy from them, stick with a helmet only. Buy armor from SC. If you have any questions that I can further help with, just send me a PM. Take Care, and welcome to BSN!
Skinner3D
I ordered the gun and holster from KS and after the initial payment (up to which they were phenomenal communicators) I didn't hear from them for a long while. I contacted them on Facebook and got a response and then more time went by and finally got my parts. In the Facebook message they said I would get better service if I emailed them. I had emailed them several times. I think there is a communication issue between the email person and the facebook person. I went with SC for the armor and had it all in like three weeks. I used the RedKap coveralls as the basis for mine. I had to remove some pockets and sew a velcro closure on the neck and that ended up being a decent amount of sewing. If you aren't sewing friendly, then I would suggest looking up cucblack on the forums. He makes the soft goods to order. Even on a teachers salary you can end up with more than one costume It just takes a bit longer to get the pieces together.
Soundwave
KS facebook : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kropserkel-Prop-Culture/81247484322 The email and the facebook are run by the same person... Brenda. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=633705931&fref=ts .... if you can't get through with them, you can't get any better than Jeff and SC. They are top notch, and have great customer service. You won't find a better, or faster alternative. You won't be disappointed at all.
Chex
CA boots are not acceptable for scouts, period. The only acceptable boots are those made using the boot tutorial here on BS.N.
Donovan
I got my gloves from wampa wear! They look better imo and they're a few bucks cheaper. Ks really isn't the best and is harder to pull off, sp I would suggest sc or mc. Mc has a really long wait time and from what I know is more expensive. Sc us really great and a lot of scouts are using it. Ca boots are just bad so I don't reccomend them.
Donovan
I got redkap for my undersuit as well
Skinner3D
CA boots are not acceptable for scouts, period. The only acceptable boots are those made using the boot tutorial here on BS.N. Tagging on that, there are a couple of people on the forums that make boots that are approvable.

Soundwave
Mine are the one from the first link you posted. I don't have any opinion one way or the other about the second link, because I don't know anything about them. Also, I meant to tell you... You can order a helmet from SC, and ask for it assembled if you want. Just my opinion here, but asking for an assembled helmet will save you a lot of headache and time. I bought mine assembled from KS. (thus being why I know so much about getting in contact with them) Because of the fact that I'm not all that crafty, I had to buy a lot of my stuff already assembled. The armor doesn't come assembled, but it's easy enough to do if you read through PandaTrooper's build thread, and have someone to talk things out with. I was fortunate enough to make some great friends here that helped me along the way outside of BSN like Mickey (mlbukowski) and Dylan (EnigmaEngine) . Get to know some of the peeps here. Make friends. They'll help and mentor you through the process. And afterwards, just pay it forward. With you being a teacher and all, that shouldn't be hard to do. Once again, if you need anything, feel free to PM me.
EnigmaEngine
They both look approvable and fine. I'd go with the first ones just because they're a bit cheaper and the seller has a higher number of feedback, but it's a small difference.

Guest Chip-hazard
Hello all I'm having same problem with KS. Since this armor is for my son I figured I could not go wrong and made mistake of paying it in full for ready to wear amour including soft parts. It has now been a month and I can't get any response. I will not order my armor from them and instead will go with SC. Very helpful and great communication prior to receiving money but not after you have paid for goods. My son is now stuck with boots, coveralls(redkap), vest, and blaster and no KS armor.
